Drop in trigger for AR15

A friend asked me today what was the best drop in trigger for an AR 15. I had no idea what to tell him. What do you guys have to say on the subject?

I was a sceptic at first but the Jard AR “set” trigger made in Iowa is great.

3 pounds until you push it forward then under a pound. And a drop in install. Try it you will love it.

Can you say what he is/will be using his AR for?
There are a lot of options. The best options for, say, home defense, would be different from ones for long range precision competition.

LaRue 2 stage trigger , just look up AR trigger replacement . I have a Colt HBar AR15 , always had a gritty trigger but never used it for a bench gun . Then started reading about improving the trigger on AR's , pop out two pins and your done , it's that easy . Check out the LaRue 2 stage trigger.Hope I Helped.

^^^ This. What's it for?

ebb,
A really good bang for your buck is the LaRue MBT 2S Trigger. It is not a self contained drop in, but for $80 you get a trigger the is right up there with Geissele's SSA-E triggers! I have them in several ARs and love them. The only draw back is that LaRue is not the fastest company for getting you their parts. I just got in one of their Ultimate upper kits for a 6ARC build. It took 3 months to get. I am also still waiting on another trigger that still has not shipped and was ordered at the same time. With that said, they are well worth the wait! I am slowly switching out all my ar triggers for the MBT 2s.

He will use it for plinking, informal target shooting and home defense. He insist it must be 100% drop in. I think that means he wants it to be adjusted from the factory and he will not be required to adjust it.

*POF drop in triggers are a good bang for the buck. I have one in my all purpose AR and really like it . Its just the right pull weight (3.5lbs) for hunting and plinking 600yd steel.

Been very pleased with CMC... lots of options, hard to get any more "drop in." The original Geissele SSA seems optimal for the need described.

For a precision AR build, Timney Calvin Elite drop-in. Multiple trigger shoe options (included). Fully adjustable trigger shoe position and orientation. 1.5lb crisp, single stage trigger pull. Awesome!

^^^ If you mean POF, that would be a good one for what the OP says his bud wants to do with the rifle. Excellent choice for the experience level that I infer from the thread.
