Drinking is Expensive -- Impulsive Purchases

Yea blame it on something as fine as a good afternoon drink, you should be ashamed, not for buying a new toy and being proud of it. But for putting the blame on something as essential and wholesome as a glass of fine liquor. I bet when she came home with a brand new pair of shoes, she didn't blame it on anything.

Hell, have you seen the prices of bourbon and whisky in the past five years? Redbreast Cask 12 was ~$80 and Henry McKenna 10 was ~$50. Now Redbreast 12 is $110 and HM10 is $80.
Not as bad as ammo or components, though.

Just broke into my bottle of HM10 last night. I find it's much tastier when cut to ~80 proof, where the alcohol doesn't mess with all the flavors.
My local liquor warehouse sells McKenna 10 for $60 & Michter's for about the same. A "handle" of the regular stuff is in the $20s and a good substitute at a reasonable price. I only drink it late after I refuse to take my plastice out of my pocket.

Lucky you, our state taxes the heck out of things like liquor & gas. Fuel here is close to $4/gallon.

I find the McKenna to be much more flavorful when I cut it to 80 proof.

i can testify that pain medication resulted in a BAT SV 20 VT, 5000 20 cal bullets, a Viper Vortex, A Vortex Strike Eagle, 100 pounds of mixed manufacture powder, the sale of a Winchester 88 with a documented 24 rounds thru it (1958 vintage), 30 Herrett dies and brass (no barrel), several leupold scopes, thousands of bullets for my 6mm, reloading dies, misc repaoding tools, a vault door, a 1911....

I'll stop there.

When I stopped hanging out here while on pain meds, my budget stabalized and now I just need to send my air rifle for a rebuild, send my 414 to Lee Shaver for a rebuild, buy a....

But I am resisting because my classic car occupies my only garage right now and if I don't work on it, I will never sit in a warm car in the morning in winter ever again....
