Douglas barrels

Wanted to give a shout out to Douglas barrels and @Stan Taylor , got a barrel from him and the thing is very nice.... break in rds with no load development were 3/4” and less... almost zero copper fouling... on top of that Stan is a stand up guy and was/is very helpful went way above and beyond what he needed too

I contacted Stan a while back. Douglas barrels will be the company I go to when I finally get around to getting my 225 Win. Model 70 re-barreled. I even thought about getting a faster twist, but not sure if it would be a wise move or not.

I have had excellent luck with Douglas Barrels. Currently my 2 PRS (243 win, 22 creed) rifles have Douglas Barrels have been very accurate and reliable.

Hey Stan, do you remember making this one?;) It is one of four FTC SS 7-08's I ordered from you back in '07. When ordering this particular 24" sporter I forgot to mention it was to be a #3 Remington contour. Totally my fault. You sent me this #3 barrel with a shank which required some minor in letting. My first test load was the Hornady 120gr. V-Max and moderate charge of Varget. In under 20 shots fired getting a 200M zero with this load, I put 5 shots inside a nickle.....at 200 meters.

It now has 2161 shots on it with that same load. Still shoots just as good, too. I put that M700 together with 6.5-20X Leupold just to use at the Gateway Dynamite Shoot. It was always used at the offhand shooting line. I lit up many charges over the years with it including numerous "doubles"....(two booms in a row). I was the first ever to hit the 500 yd. offhand dynamite target with that gun. KABOOM on the third try. Won a nice gift card to a famous local shooting emporium for that hit.

I will forever miss the world famous Gateway-Unaweep Dynamite Shoot.:(

I forgot to mention that the other three barrels were fantastic shooters as well. The 26"#5 and other 24"#3 remained silhouette competitive for about 6600 shots each. They were pulled in 2018. The 26" #6 has 2825 shots to date and still prints little groups at long range.
