I shoot 1 maybe 2 matches a month, shooting 4 rifle between 3 of us, myself and 2 sons. 400-800 rounds a month. Doesnt take long to burn bullets, primers, and powder shooting 8 months a year. Even if only 1 match a month is 3200, 2 a month is 6400 +. Plus the extra rounds we shoot (rifle and pistol). I could easily shoot 8k-10k a year. I buy when I see it and think I need it. I have also got barrels with 5k rounds on them and still placing in top 3 in the matches. One barrel has 3k on it and set a record. I'm not good by any means and never claim to be. Rounds and consumption of power, primers, and bullets add up quick.
I also plan for needs of food. We still have a beef and hog killed yearly. When COVID first started people at work where worried about food. I wonder why on earth, we have meat in freezer and veggies in cans home grown. They didn't, I never understood why. When I see meat at stores on sale I buy it. Need it? With a freezer full of meat? If its a deal why not.
Do I find myself short as of today, no. Will I fill short hand next fall, yes. You have to plan ahead of what you need in times like these. If I was short on food, I would be rethinking my stock pile.
