Does a custom die make sense here?

Never heard of a case failing in the shoulder or just below the shoulder.

Come to think of it I have not either. Based on that there will probably be no adverse affect on brass life from the extra squeezing by the CH4D die. Time will tell.

Both sizing methods, why?

So your best load with collet sizing was what? And your best load with CH4D sizing? What were the separate load development processes?
Are you running the same load with different sizing of brass?

I use OCW ladder round robin. Since the lands erode fast (much faster than my other rifles) and I shoot under very wide temp swings the optimal load changes along with those ever changing factors
