Do it yourself Stock making thread

Josh as good farmer would of used some coloured baling twine in that project aswell. Us to work for a bloke who's dad would fix a boundary fence with and tell us all that the sheep and cattle wouldn't get out anymore thro that hole. Next morning sure enough the mob of sheep be in the national park . Would just drive off and start laughing to ourselves saying yep that works . As long as it works that's the main thing I reckon . Have made a few dry rotators for doing timber lure bodies aswell.

Are you talking about aluminum pillars? They can be purchased on Midway, Brownells, ebay and most stock manufacturers.
I just took a action out of a stock and happened to see the pillars are higher than the bedding. The bedding has shrank and left the pillars stinking out of the bedding. So now guess I need to re-bed , don't remember what I used to bed the stock .

Was finally able to get back to work on this and made a little progress today with dad’s help…..probably more like he made some progress with my help. Still have a ways to go but getting closer.
P my

Made some more progress……been really busy at work and just got back from vacation but hope to be finishing up in the next couple of weeks

Dad done an amazing job glad to be able to spend the time with him……we built 2 just alike, he done all the important shaping as I had no experience and didn’t want to screw it up.
It’s not to the level of the pros on here but I’m pretty proud and think it looks pretty good for a couple amateurs.

Finally ready for a scope then testing.

looks like you guys did good. nobody realizes just how much work and all the details that go into a stock until they try it.

Making stock is a love and a passion trust me . But for me now I need to get what we call a repairs licence here in Western Australia due to stick being classed as a major component for a firearms. Where before they were omitted from the law but not since they changed the regs and the act
