Do it yourself Stock making thread

Painting has always been my short coming to any project. In the past, I was able to produce some beautiful wood furniture and such. But, sadly, could destroy it trying to put the finish on. This was not only relevant in wood working but metal or anything else I built in.

I am with Josh on Bret's work. I would be afraid to use a rifle stock job by Bret for fear of damaging it. Even if it was only F-Class. But would look amazing displayed on a gun room wall.

I think dyes are way past my talent level . Maybe 1 day i will try it but in the mean time I will just watch what Brett puts up . Will be back to machining ali rails for the next few days then be into duracoating them .

It’s not rocket science, try it and sand it out if you screw it up, blend with wool pad and lock in the color with a sealer/laquer

Big D guitars in YouTube has hundreds of videos on it

Yes, Brett is master class

No matter how obsessive you can be, or how diligent you can be, there’s always gonna be some small something that occurs that bugs the crap out of ya. Better to enjoy the use than worry about it. Life is pretty short.
