Does anyone list .223 Ackley in their new manuals?
The 223 cartridge guide right on this site has a little info on thisDoes anyone list .223 Ackley in their new manuals?
Ya,have been doing the experimental thing. Load it up to the top and look for pressure signs. I load lighter bullets in mine. Problem is that I have over 1k rounds through my barrel experimenting. It is fun though. Anyone use Reloader 15 in theirs? Right now my favorite powder for accuracy is 748. I can shoot a compressed powder charge with 55 grain bullets. Only other powders that I have not tried are the Ramshot ones.
Those first to loads are about what I am getting out of my 222. Must be the short barrel you are using.I've loaded:
29gr of Ramshot TAC in my 223AI using 50gr Speer HP. 20" 1:12" barrel, PPU brass, Rem 6 1/2 primers. Was around 3200fps.
29.5gr TAC, 40gr VMAX, PPU brass, R 6 1/2 primer was around 3350fps
These are both compressed and max.
For reference using TAC in a .223 Wylde chamber:
24grs of TAC, 68gr BTHP, PPU brass, Win SR, Armalite M15 Comp, 18" 1:8 gets me about 2750fps

Sierra might, as I recall they list some seven odd AI cartridges.

From your list, the 250 Ackley offers the greatest increase, with the 257 Ackley not far behind. While Sierra do list seven AI cartridge, alas 223 AI not one of them, as already pointed out. The seven are:
22-250 AI
6mm Rem AI
250 Savage AI
257 Roberts AI
25-06 AI
280 Rem AI
30-06 AI
Interesting that nearly half are quarter bores.
