Disturbing Prospect -- Gun Owner Insurance Law

I haven't watched the news channels in years (too depressing) so correct me if this is off base, but yesterday at the pistol range a fellow shooter informed me that the Colorado Legislator has passed a bill requiring mandatory insurance for all gun owners.

If this is true and prevails, this could be the formula the anti-gun crowd has been searching for to disarm the majority of gun owners since only the "elites" would be able to afford such insurance. And, if it's like most insurances, it would go up every year and would be probably based on the number of firearms you own. This might be the way they get around the 2nd Amendment protection of gun owners.

I hope he has this wrong because this could be awful if it spreads.

They’ve introduced a similar bill in NYS several years in a row. Same downstate NYC democrats every time. Has yet to gain enough traction to leave a committee.

If you think this is THE attempt to disarm American citizens, you really haven't watched the news for at least 3 years (or 30+). Lead bans, magazine bans, trigger bans, red flag laws, registration/permits, ammo taxes, LAWSUITS, "safe zones". Many others.
No, I haven't. I stop watching that stuff about 3 years ago. I know that is "ostrich" mode, but it was just too depressing to watch.

Perhaps ignorance is bliss, but I feel much better mentally and physically not watching that junk. Like a said, a guy at the club yesterday told me about it and I just wonder if anyone else knew if it is true. If so, it could set a terrible precedent.

NYS has all sorts of stuff they try. They’ve attempted a lead ammo ban on state land for a couple years now. I even heard one Democrat say it was sickening that hunters would feed their kids deer meat filled with lead.

High school trap leagues are picking up a lot of steam up here in the upper part of the state. Now they are trying to pass a bill that uses the environmental excuse to shut down the ranges. If you can’t meet these requirements, etc etc then you are done. And the requirements are, of course, near impossible. All from downstate NYC. It’s really quite sad. I wish they’d just leave us alone. Meanwhile they pass bail reform and let every criminal out to roam the streets. But they’re worried about the high school kids learning how to shoot.

Got this from 2AF

The bill hasn't passed yet here in CO, but it will. It's an all out assault on gun owners here in CO. They are passing an assault weapons ban, more rules on conceal carry, taxes on ammo, increased fees for FFL's and a couple others. The state is now run by Demorats and they can pretty much do what they want. I used to think it couldn't happen here, well I was wrong! It can happen anywhere!

The Colorado legislator had a hay-day recently.
Several gun related bills easily passed the house floor and are headed to the Colorado Senate.
I know one of the bills addressed locking up guns while in a motor vehicle and another was a ban on the sale of assault weapons, whatever that may be to those that penned the bill?
