Dillon Case lube

Is it OK to get some of the spray lube in the cases or will it contaminate the powder? Lately I have been literally washing the brass after sizing to remove the lube, but that has become a pain in the A#$

I use Dillon case lube for my higher volume reloads, and I spray it on, and have never had a problem with it affecting the powder. I spray lightly, and use my hands to rub the cases to distribute the lube.
After I have loaded the rounds on my Dillon 550, I dump them on a clean towel, which has been sprayed lightly with a solvent ( like brake cleaner) and wipe off the lube.

I do not do this for my benchrest loads.

I have been doing it a bit different. I've been standing the cases up when straying so as to get it inside the case necks. If I don't lube the insides the expander drags to the point of getting stuck. This lubing of the inside has me worried about at worst a squib and at best just uneven velocities. So I have then after sizing soaked in RCBS case solution overnight and then literally washed them in the wife's washer. (this by the way cleans them to almost like new) This is all good, but then I need to wait to allow them to dry which really is a pain when working with a select group of cases. When I used the Hornady spray lube I sprayed, sized and loaded, but that stuff is too expensive so I went to the lanolin/alcohol lube. I guess I just might need to try the dry neck lube method.

I put my 223 Brass in a long Tupperware container, spray they lightly, roll them around a bit, then spray them lightly again. They're flat the whole time and very little/no lube gets inside the case. Let them dry and then size/trim them. Then I tumble them in corncob for about 30 minutes and load. Works great for me.

When I spray the cases, I intentionally have the necks pointed toward me lying flat. I want case lube inside for the expander. Then I tumble them in plain 20/40 corn cob for 30 minutes which removes all the lanolin.

Unless you spray directly into the case necks like I do, I don't see how the small amount of residual lanolin would affect the powder. I would expect some granules to hang up on the lube inside the case neck. But seating the bullet will just slide them down the neck.

Are you saying that you have stuck cases using Dillon spray lube

Yes but i believe it was due to shoddy hornady dies and huge once fired 338lm cases but when i called to send em in for repair they said you must have been using spray lube. Never tried it again.

I use the Dillon spray. Lay the cases on their side in a square tupperware container and spray the outside.

To lube the inside of the necks I take a Q tip and wet it with the lube and swab just inside the mouth. That way I can control the amout that goes in there

I use the Dillon or Frankford spray lubes, which are lanolin in a solution with isopropyl alcohol. I put the cases in a big Zip Loc bag, spray in a couple of squirts of lube, close the bag and bounce it around for a few minutes. This does not get much lube inside the necks. So, I use a plastic brush with some Lee lube to lube the inside of the necks, just a bit. Since I've turned my necks, there's only a minimal (e.g. 0.001") expanding taking place anyway. Mostly just removing any dents. After sizing I put the cases in a coffee can and rinse off the lube with 92% isopropyl. I reserve the previously used alcohol for the first rinse and use new for the subsequent rinses. I rub the cases with a rag and let air dry before tumbling. This is just what I've been doing. Not claiming that's it's the "right" way or even a good way. I've been reloading many years and still have a lot to learn.
