Digital Scale

The Load cell in the EJ-123 is the similar to the FX-120i only slowed down and with less programming options (why you cant use the autotrickler with the EJ-123) We recommend using the FX-120i for the ability to connect with the Autotrickler but we try to work with everyone's budget

Appreciate all the feedback. Waiting to see how this all plays out between the FX and the EJ.

I did spend really close attention this weekend to my chargemaster. Stopping .1 lower and then trickling in the last bit grain by grain till it showed target charge weight even helped my ES quite a bit. Even as inaccurate im sure this thing is, its amazing how much a few grains of powder change things.
 
I have had many of the strain gauge types of scales and no matter what you do, they all drift to a degree. The strain type scales do not trickle very well either. Most will trickle up much better than down.
The magnetic resolution scales are the ultimate answer to accurate readings. There is NO drift, they trickle up or down with absolute precision.
They are not cheap, but I figured to cry once and more on. Been using my Sartorius GD-503 for many years now with absolutely no issues. Does not matter what you are weighing or sorting, you can do it with complete confidence.
With one of the magnetic scales you will learn very quickly that different types of powder (ball or stick) determine how quickly accurate charges can be made. There is a rather large variation in weight per individual stick of powder depending on the burn rate. Varget is very consistent at .02 gr per stick while H4831sc can be anywhere from .035 to .045 per stick.
How close do you want to weigh your charges? There is a point of diminishing returns.
 
OK. I emailed A&D and got an answer directly from them. I would tend to believe them vs a 3rd party. This is the answer I got back. I would think that the manufacturer would know what they had. To me it doesn't matter, I'll never own one but I would hate to see someone spend over $300 on a product and not get what they paid for, and not know.

Hopefully this is an honest mistake by CE Products. They should correct the website immediately.
 
There is a method to evaluate your scale mathematically.
It is called a "Gage R and R Study".
You would need a set of standard weights weighed to with a scale having at least 10X the accuracy of the scale you are testing.

The EJ-123 scale is Not an a Magnetic Force Restoration Balance, it is also NOT a Strain Gauge Balance Either. It is a Load Cell Balance which is a different method of weighing then EFR (Electromagnetic Force Restoration) and Strain Gauge method of weighing

I also have gotten confirmation from A&D Technical Support Department on this Subject

The scale mimics a EFR (Electromagnetic Force Restoration) Balance
providing the accuracy at a lower cost to the consumer

I will changing the description of the EJ-123 to reflect this
This was not done to mislead any one in the Reloading community

That being said we stand behind A&D and the EJ-123 as a Great reliable product that provide great accuracy and great value and we will continue to offer it as a better alternative to strain gauge balances, That being said The FX-120i with Autotrickler/Autothrower is a better option for fast accurate powder weighing and the scale and method we try and promote to our customers

We will be offering a further discount on EJ-123 as well as a Free 100 Gram Calibration Weight for the miscommunication

All this talk of scales has me wondering whether I should swap mine out. Did you ever come to a decision, Clucknmoan, now that it looks like the confusion around the EJ has been cleared up? Most of mine in the past have been regular consumer digi scales like these bad boys ( https://www.meltrons.com/collections/scales ) but given mine's on its last legs I'm curious if I should be giving a little more thought / care to this than I have in the past. Following this with interest!
