Die Storage suggestions?

For a favorite cartridge, such as .223, I may have several different sets of dies used for specific rifles or different applications, such as case forming, bulk ammo, and precision rifle. There have been times where I've been away from the reloading bench for a period of time only to return and find a die laying about without a home. I have no doubt that my wife thinks I'm slipping as I sit there perched on a stool intensely starring at it and asking it probing questions. "Where did you come from?"... "What cartridge are you?"... "Where's the rest of your family?"... "Did you left out because you have a problem?" I'm certain that some of you know the drill...

I try to keep the dies with their original case even when they no longer fit just to provide a quick reference. I then group my die boxes together and place them inside clear Sterlite storage containers, and I slap a label on the top and end so that I can what is inside when they are stacked or placed in a drawer. Belt & Suspenders to keep out dust, moisture, and memory loss :)

I see some good ideas here, what I have is several arrangements because my pistol dies are all set up for the Dillon 550.
This is the original toolhead rack I made up,

I bought this rack off of eBay,

The aluminum T7 stud as well as the plastic rack also came from eBay,

And there's this rack with the 550/650 studs also from eBay,

My arrangement may not apply to the original question, but ideas are ideas.
At one end of my bench, I have a filing cabinet and the rifle dies as well as the die boxes are in one of the drawers.

Nice! I never bothered doing anything for my 650 because of the powder thrower, but I also don't like how the Dillon Tool Head holders don't really store or stack very well. No reason I couldn't do something like this and then make something a little more specific to store the powder throwers since I only have 2 for the Dillon. I'll have to do something like this to free up some space. I think I could do something similar for my other dies as well. I'd just have to build a simple tool head for them which would be easy enough to do with a scrap piece of 2x4.

Machine the holders out of Delrin... or have your kid 3D print them for you :) Nice hard wood case with door with plexiglass inset to see your gear.

I'm probably going to make everything out of wood just because of cost and availability :) I only the made the front of the box clear in the model so that the internals are visible for anyone that was interested. With combinations of walnut and oak or maple, the box concept could end up looking really sharp. As much as I like the idea, I just don't have the time and my need is more functional than aesthetic.

The shelf/rack idea should be really simple to make with basic woodworking tools (table saw, drill press, and a router), and it should provide an effective use of space. It would be pretty easy to modify it slightly so that it could be mounted to a wall, and it's easy enough to alter some dimensions on the holders to accommodate standard dies or what ever else might be needed. It would also be easy enough to combine it with kenhwind's original rack to also store tool heads. If I can find enough open wall space, I'll probably do exactly that to accommodate my 650 tool heads.

I was looking for something on eBay and found this:

Taking those things and making a cabinet to slide them in lengthwise would be pretty handy. Only thing missing (for me, anyway) would be a hole to store a powder measure insert (I keep preset inserts with the dies to avoid having to change it all the time.)

Wouldn't the 4th hole accommodate that? If not, I'd be willing to bet that the seller would make you some with 5 holes, or as many as you wanted. By the looks of it, its 3D printed so making the modification to the model would only take a few minutes. Overall, I like that concept but at $14/ea its just too rich for my blood.

A 4ft peice of angle aluminum and a 7/8” drill bit gave me plenty of room for my most used dies. 4ft of aluminum angle cost around $15 at Lowe’s.

Hole is too big. The Hornady powder insert is smaller than the die diameter; much smaller than the LNL bushing.
I'll probably just stick with the Hornady die boxes. Cheaper not to go buy something new.

Made a wooden cabinet that each compartment holds 2 original die boxes.
After reading this I checked out what I have. The original RCBS boxes from 1964 are really looking rough. Plastic faded to a light green. But it works for me.
Also does I haven’t used in decades.
