Shooters choice has a product called rust prevent with lanolin it works.
WD-40 "Original" is sold as a rust inhibitor, that would be WD-40 Specialist Rust Inhibitor.PLEASE don’t use Rem oil or Wd-40. They are one of the worst oils for rust protection. They have a video on the best rust protection over a couple months period. The best was corrosion x. It’s all I use. Wd-40 gums up and Rem oil was all I used before I saw the video. I also did the same test as the video, I wanted to explain to my 8 year old daughter why I wipe down my guns. I wanted to explain about rust and what happens. I think I bored the he’ll out of her. If you type in the search bar on the home page, I think you will find it. It’s on a YouTube video. The title is called gun oil corrosion test. Sorry I didn’t know how to attach the video to the post.
Good luck,
Jason
It shouldn’t be. The “WD” stands for water displacing and is only valid for the liquid. After it dries it has little rust preventing benefit as the film isn’t necessarily thick enough nor continuous.WD-40 "Original" is sold as a rust inhibitor, that would be WD-40 Specialist Rust Inhibitor.

I was looking for this test. It is why I went with WD40 Specialist. I would use Frog Lube but WD40 Specialist is sold at every Walmart and auto part stores..In this test of 46 different products, I'd take WD-40 Specialist Rust Inhibitor over Eezox or Hornady One Shot, in part because nearly every store in the country sells WD-40 products.

I haven't yet found their box yet, but did find this:For what it may be worth some fishing tackle companies have come up with small tray type tackle boxes that are touted as corrosion resisting or preventing. Ive been using a type by Flambeau that does seem to live up to the advertising--- at least for the first year. Other brand has announced also. Might be a convenient means of safe storage.
