Deer Hunters Beware!

Deer are the worst headache of all I encounter where I work. Alligators rank #2. The deer eat everything I plant in the spring and summer and go nocturnal during hunting season. If I owned the place I take care of, I would deer proof fence it with a 10' high fence and shoot ever one inside that fence. They are like kangaroos in Australia and I wish we could use them for dog food. But it is nice to sit in a comfortable tree stand waiting to dust one off sometimes.

I use to work at a power station that has a 1.5 mile concrete canal for cooling water. We installed 3 miles of 12‘ chain link fence to keep deer out of it. Much to our displeasure, we discovered that deer would dig under it. We had to bury more fencing, 3’ in the ground, to keep those determined critters out.

Lots of farmers here in Texas are high fencing the irrigated circles off, deer are destroying the crops.

We do have people fencing off dove fields. But, it's an expensive solution. I used Miller's Hot Sauce for years, but it got too expensive and nothing works as well as it does. Natural Resource Departments are useless and people shoot hundreds of deer around here on permits at night to try to keep them under control. I live in an old subdivision. A neighbor took this picture with his phone the other night. That deer is in my yard. And the only part I care to eat is a brined and grilled (rare to medium rare) loin. Sorry for the rant. If I had the money I would start a dog food business and pay hunters for bringing them. We don't hunt them where I live, we just wait on the one we want to walk up.

Reminds of the story about a guy working on his steep roof. Tied a rope around his waist other end to the car bumper. Im sure nothing bad could happen, till his wife went to the store. Imagine the feeling hearing the car start
