Daylight Savings Time (DST)

A group of Senators is pushing a bill to make "DST" permanent.
I give one big "Hell Yeah" !!......I say contact your Reps for a thumbs
up......Although it was fun shooting under the lights at Anderson Creek !!
Please forgive my ignorance. What is DST?

In our locale, we have about eighteen hours of daylight in the summer. We don't need to save any. When we lived up north, we had about 21 hours and most certainly didn't need to save any. WH

Yeah, I should have spelled it out. I was thinking about
yesterday at the range, and reading the "bill" article this
morning. I live in Erie Pa. and we broke a 143 year old
Temperature record for March 10th. it was 72 degrees
and sunny. For our area and being early March, were still
freezing and plowing snow. As it is, I spent most of the
afternoon at our range walking the grounds, and picking
up winter trash. To make a long story short.....We have a
8pm shooting curfew. Sure would have been nice to have
that extra light yesterday.

The change was proposed back in the early seventies ('73, if memory serves) during the infamous energy crunch, but it was abandoned because in winter months children would have to go to school in the dark. Those who rode school buses would be standing alongside busy roads & highways in the dark, which is pretty dangerous. It's been so long now that I'm not certain whether or not the change to year-round DST was actually done, but I seem to recall that it was--for one year. A small child was killed waiting for a school bus not far from where I lived at the time, but I can't remember for sure whether or not darkness was a factor. It sees to me, though, that it was.
