Damaging front rest with swivel stud

Personally no. Imo, hunting rifles need to be shot and sighted in as the same manner as you plan on hunting.
In my opinion tune the rife with the least amount of self imposed contact, then practice with the rifle after it's tuned as you would hunt weather it's positioned, sticks, or bipod.
WOW;)o_O
I'm thinkin were thinkin the same

Edit to say moving rifle forward or aft can and will effect how the rife shoots, just as a different shooter may shoot better or worse than you can.

I think of things in extreme. Would one rest the rifle on the end of the stock or barrel? How about all the way back by the trigger guard? Never ever. Think of harmonics. Placement affects harmonics and accuracy. Find a spot in the middle. And keep it there every time. Consistency. In the rest, in your shoulder, in your trigger pull, in your breathing, heart beat, etc.

I zero my scope from a front rest and rear sandbag, then I setup front sandbags and hold the rifle with my hand on the bags and the butt on my shoulder and see what if any POI there is. Often there is some. If alot recheck the scope zero and then repeat holding pretty much like you would when hunting. jmo

This doesn’t seem like a complex issue. You’ve identified the problem already.
Well, in this modern age, we NEED 5 or 6 Utube videos on “How to remove a stud.” and 30 to 40 more posts on the political aspects of removal or non removal. Then we need a couple guys to post pictures of a custom tool they made using a lathe and mill that only takes 10 hours to produce.

Id just move the front bag back You said hunting rifle not benchrest. Moving the front bag on a hunting rifle wont effect hunting accuracy. Im sure somebody will disagree with that statement. It dont have to be perfect to shoot a deer or varmint behind the shoulder at 200 yds. Doug

This is turning into one of those threads where we've all got WAAAYY more to say, than needs to be said, about something that hardly needs talking about.

I'm thinking there's a lot of us here who are guilty of this syndrome. There oughta be a 12 step group or sumpthin. jd
