Remove the swing swivelWhen shooting my hunting rifles my front sling stud always damages the front rest when the rifle recoils. What is the best option to prevent this? I have the colwell adjustable bag type rest.

In my opinion tune the rife with the least amount of self imposed contact, then practice with the rifle after it's tuned as you would hunt weather it's positioned, sticks, or bipod.Personally no. Imo, hunting rifles need to be shot and sighted in as the same manner as you plan on hunting.

I only shoot from a rest, so that’s the first thing I do when I get a new rifle. Easy enough to screw back in if needed.Remove the swing swivel
^^^^^^^^ this. First thing I do is to remove BOTH sling studs before taking the bolt out to clean.I only shoot from a rest, so that’s the first thing I do when I get a new rifle. Easy enough to screw back in if needed.

Well, in this modern age, we NEED 5 or 6 Utube videos on “How to remove a stud.” and 30 to 40 more posts on the political aspects of removal or non removal. Then we need a couple guys to post pictures of a custom tool they made using a lathe and mill that only takes 10 hours to produce. This doesn’t seem like a complex issue. You’ve identified the problem already.
In the past I have removed the studs and after just a few times the stock hole was stripped and the studs would no longer screw in tight. This doesn’t seem like a complex issue. You’ve identified the problem already.
I did in the past with a Winchester feather weight but the threads stripped then guess what happened while carrying the rifle?TAKE THE STUD OUT.. Tommy Mc
Why not practice/train how you will be shooting it? Benches and rests are for benchrest, in my personal opinion, respectfully of course. In the past I have removed the studs and after just a few times the stock hole was stripped and the studs would no longer screw in tight.
