Cz MTR, to bed or not bed?

If your gun is legal why not shoot, I can post amazing groups all day, but to make a statement that your gun cleans factory targets at will is honestly not believable. If your gun is a factory Ara legal gun, it most likely doesn't clean the targets at will. Go shoot a few matches so we can see all those 2500s and you would get a lot more credit on this group
Go look at my thread shooting club matches shot 2500 for over a year just started useing junk bulk ammo shooting 2300 scores but no big deal . I shoot groups and i shootara targets at the club shoot. Hell it has shot 2300 on unlimited targets in that fun shoot. It has scored over a 1700 score on unlimited targets shot at 100 yards. I will keep having fun shooting and let everyone that wants to compete in the sanctioned ara matches shoot them. Its not for me

Too be quite honest, the issue here is you make unbelievable claims and use pictures of a target and expect people to believe it. Go shoot a sanctioned match where rules are followed and scores are documented, go shoot 1 Ara match and send me your name so I can look up the scores, I will refund you for the match fee. So no loss for you, free match

Calm down. The guy just wants to know about the benefits bedding his rifle.

That comment absolutely was not for the gentlemen asking about bedding his rifle, sorry for hijacking his thread but the gentleman the comment was meant for has made ridiculous claims for 2 years in here without ever backing them up. Comment is for ROBARRC50
I have pmed you go look up my club shoot scores they get put in the newsletter every month the fun shoot 22 precision rifle large target is factory small target is unlimited... and they post the 22 benchrest which is ARA sanctioned match results. Both shot the same way. 20230716_201940.jpg20230716_201858.jpg20230716_201759.jpg20230716_201633.jpg

I just full length glass and aluminum pillar bedded my regular 457 Varmint and I have a 457 MTR on the UPS headed toward my FFL I am planning on glass bedding. However I will not be replacing the pillars on the MTR. It was a pain getting the length right and with the full length bedding I don't think it is necessary. A simple bedding on the other hand was pretty straightforward. I also bedded the first inch of the barrel and the tang.

Only one test session so far since bedding the Varmint and with no tweaking on the action screws here are the results. All groups were 5 shots with the exception of the last two RWS which were 4 shots each. No action screw tweaking has been done. The rifle was a reliable MOA shooter before bedding but has never shot anything in the 1's or 2's. It has one official 2500 target to it's credit. I am looking forward to seeing how it shoots after experimenting with action screw torques

Various ammo, 95 F, no wind, 50 Yards front rest and rear bag

here is my second test of the Varmint after glass bedding with the action screws torqued to 20 inch pounds. Factory barrel, Jard 7oz trigger, Athlon Argos BTR 10-40X56

shot at 50 yards, 90F, 3-5 mph winds. SK Semi Auto, SK Long Range Match, SK pistol Match Special, SK Biathlon, RWS Target. Some ammo did not get a full 5x5 test. I was ready to head home so I just finished off open boxes. Just a early opinion here but bedding seems to have cured my what the heck flyer problem. I will know for certain after a match or two.

The new MTR got it's break in yesterday. Bedding prep is done. I will do the epoxy work tomorrow morning and try to test it by the weekend

Looking forward to seeing mtr test good luck shooting

I saw a slight reduction in group size and fewer flyers after bedding. BTW the OEM pillars are epoxy same as the material you use for bedding. The object of bedding is to eliminate compressing the wood fiber so I just left the stock pillars in this one. On my other Varmint I went with aluminum pillars which were a royal pain to get trim to the correct length so that the rifle would contact them and the action screws could still firm secure the action to the stock. Took me 3 tries. I can tell no difference between the two rifles

it ain't going to be winning any beauty contests, but it seems to be eliminating the odd flyers
