CZ 527 Varmint MTR

Yep, can’t wait until they hit the racks! I just have to decide between the .222 and 6.5 Grendel. I’m already too heavy on .223s.

Recently, someone was asking about the .243/.308 model 557 of these in the Varmint and Hunting section here (one was on my short list for a heavy-barrel .243, until I found a 6mm Rem. Cooper; frankly, I also wasn't sure about the looks and weight of that stock).
Assuming CZ's bringing a Varmint version of their 527 in .222 to the US, that's great! Looks like almost all of that special run of heavy-barreled Mexican-market ones offered here recently were snapped up. I have three of those sweet little C-Z 527s; a .204 Kevlar Varmint is one of the most-accurate OTC guns I've ever owned. One could always swap out that "different"-looking stock for a traditional walnut or B&C synthetic later......Darn it, swore I was through buying guns, but I really "need" a .222......

Rats! I thought I was done buying more rifles, then CZ has to come along and offer this little beauty. Like Mark above, I'm pretty heavy on 223's, never owned a 222, and the 6.5 Grendel sure looks interesting. But do I actually NEED any more rifles?

Probably not, but I feel the WANT starting to take me over.......;)

Really like the looks of this new model. Just may break down and obtain one in 222R. Have not owned a 222R for numerous years now and it would be a nice fit between the 20's and the larger .223/22-250 again. There goes the wallet, also again.

What's different from the old 527?
527s chambered in .222 Rem. and 6.5 Grendel are now being offered with longer, heavy-contour barrels with this new-style stock.
No mention of a single-set trigger on these models, though. Hope they didn't drop this feature, especially on model being promoted as a "match-target" rifle!o_O

Agreed! I was also wondering about the trigger. It would be a shame if didn’t have their ss trigger!

I like the looks of this model also as well as the 557. Sure wish Howa would come out with a nice wood stock for their mini heavy barrel, then it would be a real toss up between the CZ and the Mini.

Yep. Anymore, it's not too often that I see a factory offering that looks good just as it sits. This one sure does, though. If it's anything like the other 527's I've shot, it won't disappoint on the targets, either.

I wish the .222 had faster twist than 14. I have a Remington 660 in .222 that I think is a 14 twist and I have to really be pushing it to get it to any accuracy out of a 52gr. SMK. I guess I need to try some flat based 50gr. or 40's. The short factory barrel surely hinders me too.
