CZ 527 or T3 .222.....Which would you pick?

I have a Stainless fluted T3, love it. I also have a 204 CZ, love it too. Tikka wins as far as smooth and refined but the Little CZ has a lot of character too with that neat action. They both are very accurate, you can shoot 10 shot groups and cover them with a dime. There is no wrong choice. Buy whatever one winks at ya.

I think you should try to hold each one and see what you think. I want a .223 bolt gun and I have owned a .223 CZ in the past, and now have a Tikka CTR in 6.5. I love the Tikka and think one in .223 would rival any factory gun in accuracy. But, I also loved my CZ and found it to be accurate and trim. If I were shooting off a bench mostly, I would go Tikka. If I wanted something fast and light to take opportune shots - I would go CZ.

Also consider that the Tikka has a 1/8 twist and the CZ is 1/9. So, go for the Tikka for heavier bullets. I never used anything over 55 gr. in my CZ.

What are you using the rifle for? What bullet weights? I never owned a Tikka .223, but I do have a Tikka 6.5 - which is extremely accurate for a factory gun, and slick. So, I can assume a Tikka in .223 would be just as accurate (and smooth). But I also owned a CZ in .223 and found it to be a MOA rifle with factory ammunition. If I wanted something fast and light for field use with bullets that favor a 1/9 twist, I would go with CZ. If I wanted something for bench use and heavier bullets, I would go with the Tikka, which has a 1/8 twist.

I noticed that CZ offers a Varmint model with a 26 inch barrel that interested me. Other than that, the T3 would be my choice. I've had 595's in the past and I know the quality. I remember buying my first 595 when Scheels had them on sale with dust on them because they had been on the shelf so long and no one had heard about them yet. Never regretted buying my 22 250 back then. I'm now more into the 222's.
Thanks all for your input.

I had a CZ in 222 but that was one gun that I just couldn't get to shoot, it was the American not the varmint. Because of that I would go with the T3, I have never had a T3 though.

I have both of them in 222 Remington. A CZ 527 American and a Tikka T3 Forest.

The CZ is a little more accurate but they're both 1/2 minute of groundhog. I like the set trigger but don't care for the less than attractive mag hanging down. I use a James Calhoon single shot adapter mostly and keep a loaded mag in my pocket if I'm walking about. The walnut on the CZ is definitely nicer than the Tikka.

I looked for a Tikka T3 Varmint in .222 for over five years and never saw a new one for sale. Settled for the Forest model when EuroOptic had their massive sale. The action is certainly smoother than the CZ but for groundhogs at reasonable range that's not a big advantage. Single feeding the Tikka is more convoluted that the CZ. The Tikka doesn't get out of the safe as often as the CZ.

Which ever you decide I hope you have better luck finding one than I did. The CZ Varmint in .222 can be scarce but there are some around from time to time. I have never seen a new Tikka Varmint in that caliber available for sale. The Forest model is the only one I ever see.

Now I'm looking for a CZ 527 in .221 Fireball that they promised several years ago.....

I have no experience with Tikka but have always heard good things. On the other hand I own five CZs. One of my favorite rifles is a CZ 527 Varmint in .223.

Oh DEAR!!! You REALLY know how to hurt a gu don't you??? LOL!
Have you seen any prices yet?

Thanks MUCH for link
Kinda neat looking, i wonder what the cost will be???

I haven’t seen 2018 pricing yet. IMO, CZ is consistently one of the best values out there while flying under the radar of the mainstream. Be warned, most CZ owners have several.......lol

CZ 527 is my choice for anything .223 or smaller. They all shoot 1/2 MOA on a good day.

I have a .17 Hornet Varmint, 17 remington Varmint, 222 Rem Varmint (limited run), 223 Varmint Kevlar, 22K hornet American, and had a 221 fireball American.

Tikka are great, but the action is HUGE and when your used to CZ 527's, hard to shoot a Tikka in the small calibers.

My dad has a Tikka Superlite in 22-250 and I'd own that size cartridge and up in the Tikka..........they are excellent for sure. Just not my cup of tea for the "micros"

Either one will shoot better than most squeezing the trigger;)
