Cutting a Manners Stock in half

I have a Manners T2A that I want to extend the forend 3"-4". The forend is almost 11" from recoil lug to end of stock. If I cut it in the middle crossways at the 5 1/2" mark, and move the front section out where I want it, how is the best way to fill in the void? Manners said they used to do custom stock work but they are too busy to take it on. This will be going on a F-TR 308.

Thanks

Unless you have a LOT more carbon fiber composite, stressed shell fabrication experience than anyone that I know, I would sell your stock and buy another.

I would but I`m not waiting 7 months for another. No carbon fiber, fiberglass stock maker makes an F-TR stock left handed with the longer than normal forend that I can find. I figured that I would do it myself.

I think if I were you I would add the 3 to 4 inches to the end of the existing forend and not cut the stock. Sink some anchors in the end and glass to the existing contour of the stock. You will end up with a much stronger stock.

Do you really want to extend the forend or have the bipod 3-4" further forward? If the latter, just install a hanger in the end of the existing forend and mount the bipod on the hanger. It could be something as simple as a length of tubing. If you put a socket in the stock with a means to secure it, you can remove the hanger when not needed. 3-4" is not much of a cantilever and should be sufficiently stiff.

If I'm looking at the right manners stock, the Kelbly 1m is 34 1/2" -> is that about 4 1/2" longer than the manners? Also the manners t2a has a lot of angle in the toe, if you extend the forend out further you might find it is too much angle.

Lot of Manners stocks on Stocky's and Ebay, you shouldn't have to wait! I think that route would be quicker and better outcome! I think before I cut my stock I would add a plate or something similar to the end!

Like STS said drill and instal some anchors extending from the forend, clap a piece of pipe in barrel channel and start laying fiberglass mat. Careful fiberglass is heavy, make a foam mold to lay mat over to save weight.
