Custom scope mount

Superb work~!
I'd love to see one for the Win 1885s built for Winchester by Miroku. Tally has discontinued theirs.

I made a similar rib for my No.1 but I made mine to take Talley rings; this just because I like the look of them. If I do another, I'll extend it back over the receiver ring (as you did) so I can move the rear ring back a bit for a little more scope mounting latitude. WH

I've got a couple more scheduled that are going to be Talley dovetails.

Having the rib go over the receiver ring is a huge help on the No. 1's.

Yes, it is. My rib limits my scope choices. In fact, most modern scopes, with shorter tubes, just won't work. Mine currently wears an old Bushnell Scope Chief for that reason. It's OK; I like the old scope anyway! WH

The Leupold IER scopes do really well if you don't need a lot of magnification.

I modified a EGW Winchester model 70 Picatinny rail to mount on my mint 74 Ruger 3 in .22 Hornet. Cut off the front and milled off a little on the rear to clear receiver. Tried No1 V mounts and they fit but not good enough for me and didn’t want Ruger rings. I preferred the older style Weaver blue rings and good clear vintage Weaver K10. Zero issues with the mount or eye relief with the older long scopes. I tried a current Leupold 4.5-14 AO and it would work also but prefer the older style Weaver K10 on this rifle. Not expensive and easy to do.
