That's cool, That's the kind of stuff I do and like. I like rimmed cartridges.38-56 Improved. Case is blown out, 40 degree shoulder, .375 cal. Chambered in a Marlin 1895.
I'm getting 2700fps with a 200gr, 2300 with 275gr mono's. I'm getting ready to work up a load with 255 Barnes Originals. Should be north of 2400fps.
I've got a couple more scheduled that are going to be Talley dovetails.I made a similar rib for my No.1 but I made mine to take Talley rings; this just because I like the look of them. If I do another, I'll extend it back over the receiver ring (as you did) so I can move the rear ring back a bit for a little more scope mounting latitude. WH
Yes, it is. My rib limits my scope choices. In fact, most modern scopes, with shorter tubes, just won't work. Mine currently wears an old Bushnell Scope Chief for that reason. It's OK; I like the old scope anyway! WHI've got a couple more scheduled that are going to be Talley dovetails.
Having the rib go over the receiver ring is a huge help on the No. 1's.
The Leupold IER scopes do really well if you don't need a lot of magnification.Yes, it is. My rib limits my scope choices. In fact, most modern scopes, with shorter tubes, just won't work. Mine currently wears an old Bushnell Scope Chief for that reason. It's OK; I like the old scope anyway! WH
Yessir. It's exactly the amount of fun that it sounds like.Brother... you make this on a manual machine?!
Thanks man. I'll take a CNC for my prizeYou certainly deserve some kind of trophy.
The way you shaped the front of the mount is very graceful and pleasing to the eye. Well done. It’s great to see someone who cares about their craft.I made a couple No.1 ribs for rifles I re-barreled. The green rifle is a 6.8 Western, the blued is a 300 H&H.
