....Erik... Have you received that "Signature series savage" of mine yet for your final engraving??
It should have shown up by now , sender of package would be "Zeke Bindertwine Precision and custom puttin together" .

Let me know as I am at a standstill with the rest of the "puttin together" ... Lol

I haven't received it. It probably went straight to "junk mail" ;)

Actually I just got off the phone with Zeke... He said He's a bit behind on it and that's the reason it hasn't shown up yet... My fault as I changed the spec mid build and had him bed it with Acruglass so I would be able to hammer prairie dogs out to a mile and a half..

Will let you know when it leaves Zeke Bindertwine Precision.

Just got done pulling the barrels off all 5 of my PTA's. They r going to the salvage yard in the morning!!! After all this i cant be seen sitting behind a SAVAGE :P :P :P

Just wondering if i will get enough gas money to drive over to Bordens for a new action ??? ???

Good job Broncman, you nailed it. A company manufactures an accurate entry level rifle for people on a budget that would otherwise not be shooting!

Erik cortina got beat by a savage at the Berger sw nationals!

Yes I did, and the Savage action got beat by a custom action. :P

Well he beat your custom and he did it with a 6mm and it was a little six lol

You must be talking about the 6BRX. Actually, I beat him. Look at the aggregate results. :P :P

At some point I will buy a custom action and build on. But I am very budget minded and until I can prove I can shoot better score with a custom, I will keep on enjoying my Savage Target action. Since putting new barrel on, this gun drives tacks for me. Can't wait to shoot it at 1000 yards. This is my FTR rifle. Shooting in the low 3s without seating depth test and off bipod. Good enough for my lack of wind reading skills

And if I don't ever touch a custom,I will think what I have now is better than my old 110 action

Yeah but, he missed a match and put a hurting on you the one day. Did he or did he not? ;D

He lost overall, that's all that matters. F-Open is an aggregate game, you can't pick and choose which match you want to count. It's that simple.

If you ever get out and shoot you will learn that. ;)

Looks like you both lost overall.

Yep, a rough crowd. I can't figure if people are serious about this thread or not, but for what it's worth this is my opinion.....

(BTW, I plagiarized what I wrote last week concern big and small calibers.)
Matches are won with what people decide to shoot. The people win matches, not the actions. A person makes his decision on what he is going to shoot with and wins or loses based on the decision.

The custom actions and higher dollar rifles may have advantages if the non-custom actions are not reworked by a competent rifle smith. If they shoot smaller groups they make the 10 ring seem bigger.
When the wind gets to changing and picking up this potential advantage is somewhat negated. Once the switches and velocity changes get beyond the mind’s ability to stay up with them, the custom action advantage likely goes away.

My own thought is I need all the help I can get. I know I can’t read the wind. I play the percentages. My Kelbly Panda's work well for me and I am not about to change. Any points lost are mine not the action's even if the ammo, barrel, scope, etc. went south during the match.
When the wind flags and mirage are telling you to hold left and your bullets are going left, no particular action make in the world will help you. You still have to steering those bullets.

Be nice people.

Rough crowd, losers to Savage folks shouldn't take offense to criticism..

Fixed it for ya ;)

Sorry couldnt resist.....kind of like dont poke the bear!

People will always be passionate about what they have spent their money on, sometimes even if it was not a good purchase. With 2 savage actions, 2 remmyss and 2 Sakos, I reallllly want a Barnard,.......and a panda, and a stiller....long list.

I never said the savage is better than a custom. If the money was no object I would have all customs. Savage is my choice of a commercial rifle especially since I'm a lefty and Savage has really been the only ones supporting the lefties. One of my rifles has the sharp shooters supply trigger and I have no issues with it. My rifles still out perform me!

I think that is why this argument keeps popping up, eventually you will get someone saying that Savage is as every bit as good and they have no reason to purchase a custom..I agree Savage is doing a fine job building for the shooter..They have come leaps and bounds, But I would make a large wager that if you slapped a custom down next to a Savage and said take your pick the Savage wouldn't be so popular

I agree with your statement if your premise is that the Savage and the custom are being sold for same price or you are giving one away for free just as if you put a new Corvette next to a new basic Chevy and said you could have either for the same price I think most people would take the Corvette but when people have to make a economic decision based on what they can afford to purchase or at what cost level they want to be involved in you may find them picking the Savage over the custom.

The reason this frequently pops back up is the Savage defenders keep trying to say they would pick the basic Chevy because it is just as good as the Corvette, even if they were the same price. This is emotionally based nonsense. I had a PTA for my F-Class rifle. When I shot my Savage, I didn't run around telling the custom owners(or Corvette drivers) that they wasted their money. Green is a bad color on some folks.

That is my opinion, I don't hate Savages. I just believe custom actions are not a waste of money..I started out the same way trying to get the most out of my factory rifles..I can tell you this, I wish I spent the money years ago on custom actions and used a good gun smith
