cup data re 22-250/250/3000 cases

I was looking at the 250-3000AI as a possible build

the 22-250 loads on Hodgden show 50kcup 60k psi type stuff,
the 250-3000 loads show 34k-40k -- I am assuming this is because of the older rifles and early loadings,

if you build on a 700/custom bbl,and use 22-250 brass to fire form the 250-3000AI is there a problem loading up to the 50kcup -60kpsi levels? personally I don't think so but then I could easily be wrong.

thanks for your input

Yup... the low pressure rating is because of the Savage 99 lever action. Just like the 222 Rem has a lower pressure rating than the 223, because of the old, single lug (small lug) Savage 340.

Both cases will take 55kpsia/c, and 65 Psia/s

Thanks Catshooter,

seems like this may be just dandy for my next build, easy 117gr producing 1000fp + at 350-400 all I figure needed for deer and antelope plus a good varmint gitter.

I wonder if any one on here has experience with the case and 117-120's in a 24 inch tube .what velocities and accuracy they may be seeing.

No need to neck up 22-250... the factory 250-3000 is fine brass and will take full pressure.

I sent you a PM.

Necking up 22/250 cases may be you're best choice as W-W cases have not been offered for quite some time, and while Cabelas has a special run of R-P cases (packaged by Black Hills S.S) for several months, they now show out of stock.
I just finished a 250 AI build , but have only tried 100 gr. Ballistic Tips and Pro-Hunters and H-4895 works best so far. There are quite a few happy campers on this site that went over to the dark side ( .257 cal) with this cartridge.

I have a bunch of R/P 22-250 brass, some new, as i have a pd 40x in 22-250.

I had a 6.5-06 26bbl for years, then moved on building a300wm and 280Ai 26"bbl it was great but they weighted in around 9lb with scope
then after heart surgery valves, top end job, etc. went to short action and lighter weight 24 bbl, fluted etc. in the 7 1/4 lb. with scope, 1st a 260AI which was a disappointment and now a 7-08 AI which is fantastic.

the next thought 250-3000Ai seems natural with less recoil. as a 85 year old friend once told me, "hang, I ain't old, just been here a while"

Yep, went up the cartridge ladder and eclipsed at the .300 RUM (a year perhaps), descending down to Swede AI, to .250AI......If I start talking .300 Whisper, I'll probably be in the Depends stage. :(
