Pennsy crow are in now, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. They get the rest of the week to just fool around. ;D The season is open July 4 through April 5 so plenty of fair weather varmint shooting.
Yes, we enjoy reducing their population here in PA!
In WI. too. We used to dig a pit shoulder deep on the shore of lake Michigan here where I live. Then, gather up some weeds, dead limbs, cover most of the hole with an opening. Put an owl decoy in one of the trees right behind us, and start calling. It would be springtime and their flyway was along the lake coming back from the South. First one we'd kill would be tied at the feet of the owl. Talk about a blast !
All we had to bring was a jug of coffee and plenty of ammo. Sometimes they would be right on top of us attacking the decoy. Most shooting was at 25-50 Feet. Now and then one would get lucky , escape the initial barrage and head out. That's when my full choke on my double would take effect. It patterned at 80% at 40 yds. Some of the very best shooting I can remember, and didn't have to walk miles to get it done either.
The good old days...
