Crow Season

Yea i have had several people come try and after they turn on they get one shot off then that is it. I have ravens mixed in with the crows and they are smart.

When I was working in Rochester ny at gleason works(gear cutting company) we had an old factory and right across the street was an old brownstone and for one summer there were an estimated 10,00 crows plus hanging around that building which was next to our parking lot. It was surrounded by really old oak trees. So in the time they hung around (all summer) they would put droppings on our cars and keep the residents from sleeping due to the fact that they never shut up and most were shift workers. This made national news. So the city police went in with bird bombs and scarred them away for a short time that day, well they came back. They tried everything including loud speakers with animal noises and flash bangs etc etc etc. They failed and the crows finally left on their own eventually. The sky was thick when they took off and they never came back but it was on the crows terms. We have a season and it is mostly during cold weather which doesn't amount to squat for the year. Again the DEC and the local govts mucked up so the crow reigns strong in this area. Under the guise of conservation all is well right?

Pennsy crow are in now, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. They get the rest of the week to just fool around. ;D The season is open July 4 through April 5 so plenty of fair weather varmint shooting.

Yes, we enjoy reducing their population here in PA!

In WI. too. We used to dig a pit shoulder deep on the shore of lake Michigan here where I live. Then, gather up some weeds, dead limbs, cover most of the hole with an opening. Put an owl decoy in one of the trees right behind us, and start calling. It would be springtime and their flyway was along the lake coming back from the South. First one we'd kill would be tied at the feet of the owl. Talk about a blast !
All we had to bring was a jug of coffee and plenty of ammo. Sometimes they would be right on top of us attacking the decoy. Most shooting was at 25-50 Feet. Now and then one would get lucky , escape the initial barrage and head out. That's when my full choke on my double would take effect. It patterned at 80% at 40 yds. Some of the very best shooting I can remember, and didn't have to walk miles to get it done either.
The good old days...
Joe
