Is Bhattachary, among other things a doctor and professor at Stanford, not studying the occurrence of disease "or other health-related conditions, states, or events"?

Not possible for it to be fake news. It was not reported by the MSM, it was reported from the source. Now, was it a false positive? Was the test the day before a false negative? Seems that these tests are designed to error on the side of positive. I guess time will tell. Like in 5 years when the data sets have been culled of the trash data and the real science can begin.

Most restrictions are also being lifted in Mississippi. Here, our governor has been very clear about his goals from the outset. He said that nothing the state could do would absolutely prevent any spread of COVID-19. All we could hope for is to slow the spread enough to prevent overwhelming the healthcare system, so that anyone who could get better with quality care, would have access to that care. He was clear that the "shutdown" was not like a light switch (off/on) but more like a dimmer that could be tuned to fit the situation. Over time, the new infection rate has gone up and down but the focus has been on hospital and ICU capacity.
Another factor is that Mississippi does not have battalions of storm troopers to enforce the governor's orders. He has to get buy-in from local leaders and the public to enforce emergency orders. So, the citizens have to agree that he's doing the right thing or they will (for the most part) just ignore him. For this reason, some of his orders have targeted specific counties that were experiencing elevated infection rates.
Over all, I've been impressed with how well this poor, backward state has handled the pandemic.

Toby I don't think I explained sufficiently well. An individual serology yest may be valid. At that single point and space in time. Unless you test everyone in the USA at the same time you do not have the correct number to enter into any further analysis. Note that a single Covid patient may be tested (positive) multiple times. Numerator denominator thing. You can't do math with bogus data. It's Alice in Wonder Land. Millions have been infected and never tested. There is no data. The only valid closed system data was the testing done on the Princess Cruise ship back in March. All aboard tested and logged in. A truly closed confined worst case situation population. I defy anyone to challenge that. That original data, the infection rate, the symptom rate, the death rate have all held true over time. The rest as they say, is politics.
