Copper hunting bullets.

I've loaded some Barnes bullets and they seem to shoot ok but haven't shot anything but paper. ( X bullets).. in hunting timber, my go to has been a 45-70 w cast ww 410 s which the guys at camp thought I was nuts. Big slug .low velocity..end for end penetration.
Now for waterfowl...I question lead ban but I REFUSE TO USE STEEL!! I wanted up and went tungsten hevi shot...and have no9--18gm tungsten to load and try..no more magnum teeth rattlers..lead for practice and tungsten for hunting at 1200 fps...brain req no adjustment and it kills better than lead...18 gm tungsten is much heavier than lead.. you can handload duplex 9/6,6/4 or what have you ..use mylar wrap inside was...use pre slit or use unslit and slit to what works.. pattern on a greased steel plate...like loading benchrest ammo.
Trying to find out more casting bismuth or tin

Try the Barnes 300gr TSX in your 45-70. They kill like lightening and generate less recoil than 400gr class bullets. I shoot the 300s at 2,000 ft/sec. Their 250TSX would be plenty for whitetails and be even more comfortable to shoot. But then again; what's a 45-70 with a 405gr lead slug?

A cheap bullet that works
