Because of newly-passed legislation in California, we are asking that ALL Forum members now avoid any postings that involve under-18 marksmanship training, shooting clinics, hunting and firearms use. Don't talk about taking kids to the range. Don't post about rifles built or acquired for youngsters to shoot. Don't post about taking your kids or grandkids shooting.
Explanation of new law: https://www.nraila.org/articles/202...st-and-second-amendments-with-advertising-ban
The State of California has passed a law, effective 7/1/2022, that imposes a fine up to $25,000 for any "marketing" or content which would encourage minors to be interested in guns or shooting. Among the provisions are: "A firearm industry member shall not advertise, market, or arrange for placement of an advertising or marketing communication concerning any firearm-related product in a manner that is designed, intended, or reasonably appears to be attractive to minors."
The CA Leg. Counsel notes: "The bill would make each copy or republication of marketing or advertising prohibited by these provisions a separate violation."
I don't want to go into details, but this statute, AB 2571, is a serious threat to this website, the most serious threat since the site started 18 years ago.
A lawsuit has been filed challenging this CA law, but it could be months, or even years, before there is a decision.

One last note -- I know some members will react with "You can go to h*ll Admin -- don't cave to the radical libs", and accordingly, will deliberately post content in defiance of our request. Understand this -- YOU are not facing a penalty of up to $25,000 per "communication". Yes we believe that this legislation is unconstitutional for multiple reasons. But, in order to preserve the Forum, we need to be very cautious.
We have contacted the CMP, the NSSF, and the California Rifle and Pistol Association. We are aggressively trying to learn what can be done about this legislation. But AB 2571 is so vague, and so broad, that it appears it could encompass a huge range of activities. For example, it could, potentially impose a $25,000 fine for advertising a shooting coat sized for teens, or a $25,000 fine for showing teens at a shooting competition. At least that's what the unconstitutional language of AB 2571 threatens.
