I’m luck in that I can buy just about anything I want. Within reason of course. I have this luxury for a couple reasons. Fist I work all the dam time and second because I don’t buy unnecessarily. Usually. lol. I like the idea behind this tool but I just don’t see what it would gain me at this time in my life. My shop load is great enough that I don’t have time to compete. I shoot on my own range behind my machine shop for fun. If this tool were priced around 400$ I’d be all over it. I just don’t see 675$ of value here. Perhaps I am wrong. Wouldn’t be the first or last time!“Best in the business”
“First in quality”
“Last one you will ever own”
“Easy to afford”
“Why waste time and money on other lesser quality products”
Etc. etc. etc.
While I cannot say whether or not this specific product is better than anyone else’s product. A product’s value is in the eye of a past purchaser , user , or potential customer (sucker) .
Ones yearly income versus thier own debt to income ratio has a direct value that can be put on products. We have become a society of people that purchase items way outside their means just to keep up with the Jones’s.
My statement above are in no way a slam on the above product nor and endorsement. I have a few people close to me in my personal life who have made major purchases (five year incursions of commitment of debt) all of those could have very well spent their money a lot differently in my opinion. (Yes opinions are like assholes).
Buy what makes you happy ,as long as it’s within your means and fall within your personal boundaries of risk of loss assessment.
“You pays your money and takes your chances”.
That unknown quote rings true with everything.
Sorry for the rant.
I always tell everyone that it will be one missive auction after I’m gone. I live up the keystone area of PA . There will definitely be plates from at least 3 different states , guys walking around looking at endless piles of my stuff all shaking thier heads “How did one guy collect so much shit ?” Will be heard often.I’m luck in that I can buy just about anything I want. I don't think that anything other than something similar to a Lee hand held priming unit is warranted unless you are going to control the depths of your primer pockets, your individual primers, and probably some other dimensions I haven't even thought of. If someone thinks that they are going to be able to use a super duper primer seater that costs a lot and seats primers by what dimension it seats below flush, and not crush some primers and fail to seat some fully, without controling the other dimensions, I have some swamp land on the Moon I can sell them. As an example, if you push primers, let's say .001" below flush, and one primer pocket is a bit shallow, and the primer itself is a bit on the tall side, then another case gets primed and the primer pocket is a bit deeper than the last, and at the same time, the primer is itself a bit short, what do you think will happen? You will be seating those prmers sometimes perfectly bottomed, some won't be seated firmly enough, and some might get crushed in.What do you all think. Is the primal rights competition primer seater worth the money? I can’t decide. I don’t shoot competitions anymore but I do live fine tooling. I have a shop full of the best equipment I can afford. I’m just having a hard time pulling the trigger on one of these. I’m sure I’d love it but will I gain from it?

But, still, some guys are going to insist on doing it with one of those units that seat by a set dimension. There are some people "you just can't reach".Even uniforming pockets and sorting primer height still leaves 1 other thing. Rim thickness. Hard to change that other than throw them away.
When seating a primer into a case, the case is pushed away from the incoming primer.
if the grooves are not all cut the same.....from base of cartridge...you can see the problem with a hard stop unit.
For close to 30yrs...Sinclair hand primers for me. It's just the way I do things. Keep
it simple, and does'nt mess with my beer fund......
Very well made but not any more accurate than any other cheaper seater for only one reason it still retains the brass by the rim and not all brass rims are the same thicknessWhat do you all think. Sounds like a contest brewing. I’d like to see both of your reloading and rifle rooms and be the judge.I bet I have more shit then you do......LOL I'll also probably be
gone way before you so you'll have time to catch up.....LOL

LOTs of variables. Primer height/rim thickness/uniformed pockets....depth below case head will not be the same. Best case is seating flush and adding crush. With the CPS....get the FClass upgrade...its only money. So if I’m understanding correctly…..measuring after each primer seating doesn’t matter?
I have a CPS and when I would set it at a hard stop I found that like others stated some have good crush and some weren’t seated far enough as no crush was felt.
Now I try to have it set so I use feel to bottom and crush. Would the various dimensions explain why the below flush measurement isn’t always dead nuts on?
I’ve also been using some white river primers that are 0.131 and at first I was crushing Lapua 7/6.5 PRC brass so hard I found shell holder crushing on the rim. I’ve since backed off. I also found that the thickness of the primer with a crushed anvil is significantly more than 0.002.
My fear is if my primer is close to flush or slightly proud does that equal a pierced primer?
I guess my biggest concern or question is am I better off seating by feel and then regardless of how they measure below flush hopefully will my SD’s be better???
I bought one simply because my hands no longer have the strength to us a handheld one. What do you all think. Is the primal rights competition primer seater worth the money? I can’t decide. This is not how the CPS is intended to be used. I urge you to call Greg at primal rights and he’d be more than willing to answer your questions. So if I’m understanding correctly…..measuring after each primer seating doesn’t matter?

My two cents lesson in to measure 20 random pieces of your brass (non uniformed pockets) and record the largest pocket depth dimension (deepest pocket), say that number is .123”, then measure 20 primers from the lot you intend to use, and record the smallest dimension (ie shortest primer height), say this dimension is .120”.
Take .120-.123 = -.003” (this would represent the worst case scenario, .003” underflush)
Now subtract .002” (minimum crush target): -.003 - .002 = -.005” (this would mean even your worst case scenario tolerance stack would have at least .002” of crush and result in a primer seating depth of .005” under flush minimum.
Using this strategy, I find than I will end up with an average of approx -.0067”, +/- .0008” (this is the actual data from my last loading session).

Also, I would never shoot any rounds that have a primer that is proud of the case head. That is a recipe for firing pin and bolt problems, and also it’s a hang fire situation waiting to happen if you shoot with a spring that is too light.Thank you very much for the detailed explanation and for your 2 cents. I realized I had my numbers flipped in the equation. Like a dufus. This had been my approach and I have an accuracy one primer measurement device that has worked well except on this Lapua 6.5 PRC brass as I can’t consistently fit the case without it swiveling but that’s another topic. Thanks again
GeniusI use a an old priming unit that seats by feel for most of my reloading but for bulk 223 or pistol ammo I bought one of the poor man priming units, its just easier when loading 1000 pieces of ammo in a session. I mounted it on a Harrels compact press that’s portable, I leave them attached and use both as a priming unit. The Poorman’s priming tool has depth adjustment, it’s easy to use, its quality and does a great job. It uses RCBS priming tubes or any of the aftermarket tubes. Lots of videos on the unit, just do a google search. Amazon link to the priming unit and a link to the press below. In my opinion, keep in mind it’s just an opinion, it offers everything the unit you’re asking about does…..
