competion at unknown distance???

I was curious if there are competions where you fire at unknown distances. It would be my guess that that could add an additional challenging element to the contest.

I think it would be hard to do as each rifle range has well known marks on it that the locals would know so would have a very unfair advantage.

Wasn't the NC GH shoot allowing tag teaming of rifles though..
As in, the first shooter basically fouls, warms up, & sights in the rifle for his partner,the second allowed shooter on the same gun).
That was the impression I got..

I am so used to shooting in my back yard I just assume that everyone does.

I guess it would be hard to do fairly. If there was a way this could be done it would be interesting as I think it would change the dynamic of the shoot.

Maybe 10 targets at varying distance done with one gun.

True tactical matches are fired at UKD's. There are timed stages, stages that require stalking before locating the target, and stages that require some serious physical exertion before the competitor gets into position to shoot. Check sites like Sniper Country and Snipers Hide,and others like them) for match information.

Also, in this part of the country there are formally organized dynamite shoots where half-sticks of dynamite are put in pop cans and placed randomly at UKD's ranging between 250 and 850+ yards. Normally, there are three rifle classes grouped in these shoots. Loads of fun, and some money to be made. The pot gets split between the gun club or charitable organization hosting the meet and the sucessful shooters. They're held between two and four times a year around here.
