I think they gave a common sense solution for the problem at hand.I also think they made a wise decision to wait a bit do to the sensitivity of the subject.God bless you all.

I live in England and read the NRA speech on another shooting website kindly provided from a shooter in Michigan.
I must admit I was very impressed by his speech. I also watched Fox news on Sky, and boy it did not take long for the anti gun fools to ridicule his offer and was shocked that they just brushed it aside without giving it the once over to see if it would even work. The other option that the antis seem to want, is that to have no good guys with guns protecting your children! And I thought that it was only the British politicians who are idiots! Good luck guys and a Merry Christmas and New Year to All over there, from us All over here.

My kids school here in rural Indiana has had one to two sherriffs deputies posted at the school for the last 4 years or so.

what the anti gun group does not want to think about is this. Lets say you can not get a gun you only have to convince a cop to give up their guns. Then you are set.

People, Man you nailed that right on the head. The anti gun ^%$& never seem to realize that if guns were "Outlawed" then the outlaws are going to get one from the folks that have them. Guess who that would be?

My heart bleeds for those families in CT. And what does the left and the liberals do? Marine Corps
General Jim Livingston said it best: " "After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it." Very True !!

I seen some of it on msnbc. Wayne said "put an armed officer in every school in the nation". Msnbc was running on their screen "NRA wants guns in every school". Clearly not the same message. What else would you expect from mainstream media? Sad but true.

your sh!*n me!!!!
we all need to not watch the media.... we need a media boycott going on now!!!

I wasn't watching it intentionally. I took my mom to a doctor visit and seen it in the waiting room. I don't think a boycott would change anything. I think they would enjoy it. Less hassle for them and yet another reason for them to beat their chest. Their minds are made. Remember, most media originates from either the rep. of California or New York, both very Democratic by population. So they slant their coverage to complament their viewers.

Do you want Gun Control or do you want to stop the horror? The only way to stop a mass murderer is with force. Begging, pleading will not work. Someone must be on the spot with enough deadly force to stop the killer. Use logic. Arm the Public and trust them.

That armed officer at Columbine worked out real well. Didn't it! The NRA had a great opportunity to show its human side, and deliver the "meaningful contribution" it promised. They screwed up! The only reason i am posting right now is due to the article I just read in this mornings paper. Apparently the Mongols MC didn't care much for the speech. A quote from their president, "we see an NRA decal or bumper sticker on your vehicle and we destroy the vehicle and anyone in it". After my wife showed the article to me, she turned on the garage lights and scraped the decals from the rear window of my van.

I having been iinvolved in our Public City School System can tell you I'm for it across America as it is here, an armed Patrolman in every school building.

Call it a deterent if nothing else, just like going to the DMV where you have to go through a Metal Detector and past 3 armed County cops.

JRS post up a link from an original article that states they had an armed gard.

As to the mongols gang you are letting the terrorits win.

I'm sure if you google it, you'll find it. It was in every newspaper in the country at the time it took place. As for the Mongols, I live in So-Cal and am not willing to put the life of my wife in jeopardy. They go well beyond our typical home grown terrorists.

Deputy Neil Gardner, a 15 year veteran of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was the assigned uniformed officer at Columbine. The second officer was Deputy Paul Smoker. Deputy Neil Gardner fired 4 rounds at one of the shooters, missing with all 4 rounds. The story goes on and on. There are a number of quotes by both Deputy's. At the end, 15 dead and 23 wounded.
BTW people: we are not living in some Hollywood fantasy movie. Kurt Russell is an actor. The Mongols are not, and happen to be one of the most violent and dangerous groups in the country.

I wouldn't mind if we allowed certified teachers carry:) Why the hell not? The media would tell ya that somebody may be a bystander.. My guess is the people around a shooter are gonna die either way you may as well put the shooter down..

I find it hilarious to think that mass killers are some how trained like swat or military. That they can somehow go into a room with armed guards and take them out like Seal team six.

One would have to play a lot of video games to come up with this conclusion.

By requiring "Gun Free" zones such as schools, courts of law, airports, Dr.'s offices, places of business etc. they are inferring that my safety is guaranteed by them. If harm comes to me or mine in such a place my right to sue them should also be guaranteed. A couple settlements in the tens of million dollar range and perhaps they would view their stance differently. For the love of God this is America! I and mine have fought for our rights and they shall not be infringed!
My thoughts and prayers go out to those lost and theirs in Newtown, CT.

Been to a courthouse lately? Multiple, armed guards greet you, have for years. Same with most airports though the guards are less conspicuous. Banks sometimes have 'em though not always in plain sight but they've developed other methods to deter predation yet still get robbed often enough.

Heck, been to a Social Security office? There's an armed guard there too.

We're supposed to believe parents / society value their children more than anything yet the popular hue & cry is to leave them entirely without protection until the police arrive?
