CMP 1911s

Your statement about the SA Range Officer intrigues me. Are you saying that with a trigger job and new bushing it will shoot well, longer than a Wilson, Baer, etc?
The consensus is yes. The Baers and the Wilsons tend to be fitted so as to “wedge” the barrel and slide. This gives a rather abrupt locking and unlocking. It also affects the longevity of the accuracy by concentrating the wear. Once the “wedge” is gone the accuracy is gone.
Now a SA Range Officer isn’t great, but it will get you to Master or very near (2550 /2700) with a simple trigger job and a new fit bushing. Perfect to learn on and that is a bit cheaper than a Rock River Arms Bullseye 45.

It would be interesting to know exactly what they had to pay for these well used pistols as well as the M-1's they got out of the philipine"s.I am sure there are some nice examples of both but the money they ask is prohibitive to an average person. It is hard to justify paying 1000's for an M1 and have it become outlawed or something. It is happening in Washington state soon. It scares me since guns are what I love and all it takes is a pen and a paper. I had to sell my Mom's house because a lot of my stuff wasn't legal there. I will stick with newer better made pistols than trusting my safety to a rattlely old worn out gun. It is a shame price's have gone sky high on all this stuff when it would be cool to own history but the CMP is turning it into a rich mans sport so to speak.
