The consensus is yes. The Baers and the Wilsons tend to be fitted so as to “wedge” the barrel and slide. This gives a rather abrupt locking and unlocking. It also affects the longevity of the accuracy by concentrating the wear. Once the “wedge” is gone the accuracy is gone.Your statement about the SA Range Officer intrigues me. Are you saying that with a trigger job and new bushing it will shoot well, longer than a Wilson, Baer, etc?
Now a SA Range Officer isn’t great, but it will get you to Master or very near (2550 /2700) with a simple trigger job and a new fit bushing. Perfect to learn on and that is a bit cheaper than a Rock River Arms Bullseye 45.
