Cleaning the first 6” of barrel

Someone keeps telling these people that bronze brushes or barrel cleaning abrasives ruins barrels. Or there is some extra credit for never using either.
It seems to me the problem is not the bronze brushes or abrasives being used, it's how they're being used; like the gritty carbon that's left in the brushes and abrasives too long and it's that carbon the acts as an aggressive abrasive. o_O

I do 20 (back and forth is one stroke) 12" strokes per patch with Flitz Barrel cleaner.

One stroke for every shot fired. 100 shots would be five patches.

Yeah, I like and use Flitz Bore Cleaner and it does a great job with not a lot of effort. Though, once is a great while I'll need to use a little Iosso Bore Cleaner on an their eliminator blue nylon brush to take care of some stubborn carbon ring.
