Well, I did strip it all out and found pitting under the fouling. A lot of it. So, now I'm second guessing my decision. So much depends on what you are using it for.
Shoots well is relative, means different things to different people..
1) shoot it yourself to see how it groups.
2) if it satisfies you, light cleaning.
3 if it doesn't satisfy you strip it all out
If it were mine, I would strip it all out, then shoot it, and keep it clean.
If you didn't shoot it before stripping it down, I'm not sure how you could know. If it ain't fixed, don't break it!Should I have just left it alone?
That's what I'm asking myself.
I agree, #8 still looks like carbon.Where in the barrel was that pic taken from? Close to the chamber? Looks more like carbon to me
All I know is JB Bore Paste won't touch it now.I agree, #8 still looks like carbon.
I understand. Maybe the free-all users will chime in on how to let that soak in under the carbon. All I know is JB Bore Paste won't touch it now.
Agreed, This ^^^^^I would strip it out to see what's underneath. Not hard to get it dirty again.
Have you gauged throat wear yet? IE: are you able to reach the lands with a bullet still in the neck?Bench gun. Borden action. Fiberglass stock. 6br.
Hence my frustration.
Already 'stripped it out'. Given my experience with JB Bore Paste, if it won't take it out then it's not coming out.
