cleaning off imperial sizing lube

Ok, I'm not new or stupid. I just necked down some brass and have lube all over the necks inside and out. I have an ultrasonic cleaner but no citronex. Whats the best way to clean these little suckers. Short of rubbing it off with alcohol. Need a trick or something.

Well I've been doing it old school too for a long time. Just looking for simple or easy. You know like this new generation does stuff. I didn't know if the vinegar would cut it off or not. Thanks for the help

Brake parts cleaner works about the best. Q tip on the inside of the necks. I usually end up throwing the whole batch in the tumbler. And if you're necking down, it gives you another chance to inspect your brass for flaws. And there's nothing wrong with "Old School". ;) Youth is wasted on the young! ;D

Imperial comes off pretty easy. Another thought is to simmer them in a water/Simple Green solution for 30 minutes or so. Works great.

You can also soak them in mineral spirits. Slosh them around every so often. Then rinse in clean water.

Just wait till you try to get off the STP/Mobil-1 mixture. Holy smokes, it's TOUGH.

I just wipe the exterior off with a rag. When I asked Sinclair Intl. how they get the sizing wax out of the necks he said "we just shoot it out".

Unless that bullet is rattling around in the neck, it should push the powder back down in the case neck as it gets seated. Problem solved.

I just wipe off the loaded rounds with one of those blue paper shop towels from a box, no chemicals involved. If I remember and have time.

Monte,
If the powder is stuck to the wax on the inside of the rim of the brass, there's no assurance that it is going to make it into the volume of the case. That means that the powder charge will be less than perfect, certainly variant to what was dispensed/measured for the case.

I use die wax on the expander prior to filling the case with powder. My reason for washing after sizing.

I keep a small bottle of Lacquer Thinner on my bench, and a little on a clean rag and the wax is gone. In fact it will make the whole case shine if you want to wipe it completely. You will find other uses for it as well, its great for cleaning inside of dies, but be sure to re oil them, as it removes every bit of almost anything.
I use a small Starbucks bottle with its top on the bench, and if it starts to look dirty, let it set overnight, and all the dirt will settle to the bottom, so it last a long time. Any Hwd store in 1 pt and up cans.
Just be careful it will burn.

ok iv never had the powder get stuck in the neck. if you have that problem then you are simply using tomuch wax.

come on guys your not lubing a condom here it is a peace of brass use the lube sparingly. is takes vary litle wax to get the job done if your woried about it use a nilon brush that fits your caliber stick it on your case trimer and after you trim swab the neck.
i have never had too do that but then agian like i sead im not trying to lube a condom eather
