Cleaning modeling clay from fresh glass bedding

Just got thru the first pass glass bedding a project synthetic stock that was basically a shell blank - used modeling clay to block all the holes in the action - usually when I do this, it is a one-time, final time shot and the residue left is not an issue. In this, case I will have to go back and bed adjacent areas, and re-bed the voids in previously bedded areas. What is the best way to clean up leftover clay stuck down in crevices in the stock? My concern is that any remaining will preclude new bedding from adhering - if I clean it with a solvent or cleaner of some sort, I don't want anything that will either weaken the glass bedding or leave any residue that will prevent new bedding from taking hold. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm not looking for suggestions to try here, but a remedy that has been tried and proven previously. Anybody done that - been there?

Pick it clean as Terry said. Use a small piece of sandpaper over the areas (tedious but worth it). Clean the area with acetone, then bed like a mad man

Pman,
wooden qtips "tooth pick at one end, cotton on the other" alot of them, eyeglasses in my case, and a couple beers or coffees. take your time, it will pay off...rush and you will be sorry, again and again.

I'm thinking of trying some of the cheap silicone sealant - that stuff usually will peel right off, especially if I put wax or mold release on before and after filling the gaps with silicone. Any thoughts?
