Cleaning a barrel after using HBN??

I tried Moly,..... didn't like the way it "caked" up in the barrel and how hard it was to clean.

Thinking about trying HBN. What is the "cleaning" process for this? Anything special? Does it require any special solvents??

i use wipeout w/ the accelerator 3 to 4 passes then the brass brush twice finish with 3 to 4 more passes with a patch then some light oil i clean at the range in between shooting 20/30 rnds i put 2 patches thru then hbn suspended in alcohol let dry then rage on
i know my grammar sucks each of my daughters have a masters in english so i never write them
only ftf or on the phone
i would be chastised for sure

So, no "special" chemicals needed, just clean as you normally would. Then treat the barrel again before shooting??

You will likely think this is crazy. But I use hBN coated bullets and my bores are ceramic coated with hBN and only dry patches go down the bore - as soon after 20 rounds as reasonably possible. No chemicals, no brushes.

I would like that as well. I wouldn't expect the bore to be shiny, but I guess as long as there is no carbon or copper, that's all that matters. I can bring all 4 of my coated bores to Rio Salado on a day that you will be there. I shoot the high power range when either Gary, Larry, or Tarey are there. We plan on arriving in AZ around the tenth of Oct.

Buildup of what? Carbon? Copper? HBN?

I have one bore that has 950 rounds down the tube, no brush for the last 911 rounds. Another barrel has 665 rounds down it and it has NEVER seen a brush or chemical - unless you count hBN as a chemical.
My "only dry patches" are probably not getting the bore squeaky clean. But the accuracy is still there.

I've always used Sweets 7.62. No brush just patches till they come out clean down to the bare bore.

Cool. We will hook up after the second week in November. I have a deer hunt the first week and still have some scouting to do.
