I don't know how much more time and angst it would cause you awesome moderators, but I would hope that you would consider focusing your actions on the few who are ignoring the rules. Don't punish the masses who day after day follow the rules with no problem. Hammer the people who can't seem to get it right, either through ignorance or stupidity. You could be benevolent, and give them a warning, like was suggested by XTR...but I think you can be safe in thinking that the the rule abiding masses will not miss the riff raff if they are banned...

I think MQ1 is right on the money. However, if you take this posture, in order for it to work, you would have to expose someone who you took action against. If not, it would just seem like someone simply is not on the forum anymore. However, if you took the action and let everyone know WHY the action was taken, it would most certainly deter others from making the same infraction(s).. Food for thought..

I have followed and used this forum forever, I just became a member in order to purchase some peep sights for my son via the classifieds. I would like to say the forum, and classifieds are awesome. I like being able to post "I will take it or I will take it if (add info here) pm sent". As I said this forum clicks the amount of knowledge, the users willing to share, and the non battering of newbies etc be it classifieds or forum... I think you have it set up perfect.... No help here, just wanted to say how nice it is here.

Funny story....Recently a fellow had made a slightly disparaging remark about my ad, which I ignored. Later he PMed me and was irate because he thought that I had gone to you about it. Perplexed as to what he was referring to, I checked my outgoing messages and then replied that he was mistaken, that my skin is thicker than he might imagine, and that the only thing that concerned me was selling what I had listed, which I did rather quickly. Later upon consideration, I figured out that you must have inspected the thread unsolicited, and made contact with him based on what you read. Thanks for all the work that you do to make this a better place. I was one of the volunteer moderators over on Benchrest Central for over a decade, so I have some appreciation of the aggravation that can be involved. Have a good Christmas, and new year.
