Chassis stock for a PD rig?

With all the new chassis stocks for various PRS rigs and other applications... has anyone tried a chassis stock that they would recommend for a bench prairie dog rig?

I was thinking that the weighted versions might lend themselves well to a rig to be used on a swivel table off a bipod. This rig would use a heavy bbl profile, and a repeater R700 clone action with detachable box magazines. This project will be a 204 using 40 VMax and 39 SBK.

I see some competition stocks that offer kits that include weights like the XLR ENVY Pro JV, and the MDT ACC, for example.

Any favorites? Ones you tried and didn’t like?

I've got a Masterpiece Arms chassis stock that I use for the same reason. Works well.

I have an mpa, krg bravo and a krg whiskey 3 and my shooting partner has the mdt acc. All 3 are awesome, but the krg is both our favourites. The mdt fully weights would be nice, and it’s long fore end which plays nice on a bench!!

I’m putting together 20 tac in a manners prs1 at the moment should be together by Friday. There’s a slight chance that it might wear the mpa and the 6creed the manners but I doubt it

Very hard to beat a KRG Bravo for about any application. I believe it's around 3.5 lbs, but there are many practical ways to add weight including adding epoxy fill with splitshot fishing sinkers to the palm/grip cavity or barrel channel. There are also M-LOK weight kits and metal buttpad spacers to add more weight if desired. With a thick contour barrel over 24" I'm not sure you'll need the added weight for a 204.

I am going to M lock a piece of 3”x1/2” flat bar on mine. Did one for another rig, drilled and tapped a sling swivel stud for a bipod.
Buddy cera coated it for me. Tamed down 22-250 so I could see my hits/misses.

Yup, I like to put some effort into building the position and using follow-through to spot shot impacts.

Stock design and weight are definitely a concern. I have always been a bag squeezer for the rear and typically a bipod on the front. With the AR uppers, I can correct second shots quickly if the first shot is a miss.

I am hoping the Peirce Engineering repeater action will be an improvement in terms of bolt lift force so that a follow-up is still on the target after working the bolt.

I figure if the chassis idea works out I will be able to set one up at least as well as a traditional stock.

Sounds like some folks have already been experimenting with chassis on PD rigs. They have already named some that I never heard of, so I am grateful for their input.

I have a couple XLR Elements a KRG X-Ray and a couple KRG Bravos on custom Tikkas and I like the KRG Bravos the best. It’s grip is what I like it. You don’t have to uncurl your thumb from around the pistol grip when cycling the bolt quickly. And the polymer skins make it “less hard” than the aluminum Elements.

I have the folding stock version of the Magpul Pro 700 SA that @urbanrifleman mentioned. I don’t know exactly what it weighs but it’s pretty heavy. No special provision to add weight but if somebody made weights that would attach to MLok slots it has a bunch of them. Put 3lbs of scope and mount, 7-8 lbs of barreled action, and two pounds of suppressor on it and a varmint load won’t move it much.

I put a Oryx Chassis (made by MDT) on my cabelas special savage model 10 in 204, mainly so it would accept a magazine so I could do away with that very poorly designed internal magazine it came it. If I remember it was about $240 which was hard to beat and it works great for my benchrest varmint killing needs.

What cartridge does this use?

I put a Howa Mini in an MDT Oryx chassis. The first barreled action was a factory varmint 222. It shot well, better than I imagined for a factory barrel really.
Forward to another mini project. 22 Nosler barrel put on another action. Been fighting vertical stringing. Barrel may actually be to long and heavy for the chassis.
I read up some on balance. Put a bipod on the very end of the chassis, bagged up and wow what a difference it made. I may tinker with some weight on the butt as it could use some help setting in the bag anyway.
All winter to play with it.

This started off as an Accurate Rifle Systems stock. As seen below, it came with a compartment on the forearm where additional weight can be added. Also on the rear a should stock could be added. I had it made without being able to add a shoulder stock. After trying it out, I did not like it at all with the drop down section on the front area for added weight. It was bulky, didn't setup well for shooting in the field, etc. The side panels were not flush on the bottom so that also cut down on the bearing surface on the front rest. Some shooters really like the stock, but I didn't so I had the bottom area milled off. Now the stock is lighter and much easier to setup.

The barrel on the previous post is setup for .223 the barrel on the bottom is setup for .20 Vartarg. It's a REMAGE setup.
