Chamfering a chamber

I have had a barrel installed on my 452. Occasionally a cartridge gets hung up on the sharp chamber lip, it cuts the lead and then will not chamber. I would like to chamfer the sharp edge a little bit and make it smooth. I am thinking a pencil with some 600 grit paper on it? Thoughts?

It is best if you could take it off & do it in a lathe. I take a deburring tool l& break the corner. Any way you can get in there & break that corner will be fine.

It’s the dumb end of the chamber, you’re not going to f/$k it up with your pencil. Lol
I think you’d have better results with a 1/4 brass/bronze bolt with a radius though. It’ll make you fell better if you have a bore guide of some sort for it, but wouldn’t sweat it myself. Just be careful.

What linekin said. I had the same issue with a 457 that I just rebarreled. I just wrapped a piece of 600 grit around a cone shaped Dremel tool and gave it a few turns. Just enough to take the sharp edge off. IMO, a pencil will go too far into the chamber but you probably still won't ruin it. Another thing I found was that if I operated the bolt with a little more authority the rounds fed without those hang ups.
