Chamber reamer

There seems to be a few different types of reamers. When ordering do I ask for a finishing reamer? Thanks.

Short answer, yes.

Roughing reamer cuts an undersize chamber to save wear on finish reamer.
Resizer reamer cuts an undersize chamber for a sizing die.
Finish reamer cuts a to spec sized chamber for ammunition.
Its normal for a finish reamer to cut a dozen or more chambers before needing resharpened. frequently alot more.
Carbide reamers are a slightly different breed.

If you are buying it to give to a gunsmith to use, discuss it with him first. He may want removable pilots or coolant grooving added to a basic reamer.
