Cerakoting - what tools would you need?

Its crossed my mind a lot to get tools where i could cerakote things myself... Ive looked into it some... but dont know enough... any of yall that do it could you tell me what id need to do it, approximate cost to get set up, etc??

Sand blaster
air brush
Air compressor with pressure regulator
cerakote
oven to cure stuff

What else is needed? Opinions on what brand of tools? Id just want tools what work decent, not the best....

If i did decide to do it i know itd take lots of practice, but itd be nice to be able to do and do for buddies, maybe a little side gig... nothing big time....

By all means its only worth going after if i could get set up for the same or less than the doller amount itd cost me to have it all done...

You're going to need a container to clean your parts. I use a piece of square steel tubing with a leak proof base welded to the bottom. The base should be large enough to keep the container from being "tippy". Mine is deep enough to suspend a barreled action with 30" barrel. I use acetone....I don't think you'll get the results you want using a spray cleaner. The instructions give a detailed process for cleaning....follow it

I've gone the route DUSTY mentions. I still use a 1 gal. air brush compressor with regulator and switched from air brush to HVLP gun. It works much better now and HVLP is much easier to clean....... +1 for Keith Kilby too.

Chlorinated brake cleaner, Harbor Freight HVLP gun with .8 mm nozzle, 120 grit aluminum oxide to blast with, compressor set at 18-20 psi. Convection oven to bake parts. Test pieces to practice with and go for it. ;D Have fun.

Thanks, thats the plan! I figured a smal toaster oven that bakes i can rig up to heat cure small stuff in, then im going to have to rig up a larger oven to do barrels and stuff in. I decided to wait several months before i jump into it though, wait for my house to get finished being built that way i have the room in my gunroom/shop... make things less of a hassle. I got a list of tool stuff figured out what i want to get... its going to cost me about half the price to buy stuff to do it myself vs paying to have it all done... then i got the tools too.. win win.. im going to have to buy a bigger air compressor though to run the sandblast cabinet im going to get.. sandblaster takes more cfm than i thought they did... but ita be nice to have the bigger air compressor too...

I dont think its a bad deal... a little tedious, but i enjoy all this kind of stuff.. i wish i could afford a whole dang gun shop BUT im no machinist so thats out of the question haha. A lathe and chambering barrels and all is above my pay grade and im ok with that! Little stuff like cerakoting and bedding etc etc i get a kick out of doing, so this will be an extra tinker..

338,

If you like to tinker this will be right up your alley. When you get set up pm me if I can be of any help. One more thing is to buy a top of the line respirator as Cerakote is very toxic. Spend the money for a good one.
