cerakote vs warranty??

Anyone ever heard that having a scope cerakoted to match your rifle would void the warranty on the scope?? I had a guy tell me that, but i am hesitant to believe it... in my case im running steiner military 5-25x56's... ive never heard of this issue before, its a popular thing to do for many people...

I wanted to do just that recently. However, on a whim, I called NF to ask if doing so would waive warranty. To my surprise they said that any alteration to the factory product (including cerakoting) would deem void the warranty. I tried to plead to the fact cerakote is not disturbing any internal parts but they maintained warranty will be null if I'd do it. I understand their stance...

I believe they are "concerned" about the alteration because of the solvents that "MAY" be used during the paint job. Too much in the wrong place could degrade the seals.

Might also impact refurbishment and reselling. I would never buy a scope that's been painted or coated.
+1. Besides a "rag wrap" is so much easier.
