Centerfire Barrel Tuners/ Muzzle Devices

That sounds like a very reasonable price. Do you leave the original crown on the barrel or have to set it back?

Here's a picture of a Jackie Schmidt tuner fabricated with aluminun and a marine prop shaft bearing made with brass and rubber.

This is the tuner that was on Jackies HV 30BR rig when he almost set a new HV agg record a few years back in Midland,Texas...

it weighs approx 5oz....

In the Daily Bulletin October 9 2013 they have the RAS tuner. These tuners have been used to win national events and have made national records.

May interest some while talking about the tuners. I can't remember but once you work up an accuracy node and seating depth as I have, and install tuner and adjust to shrink the group..... do I have to change this with varying temp or conditions?

Larry, I must have missed that. What national record was set?

No, once you set it treat it like a solid barrel.

I leave the original crown unless otherwise specified. If the gun has more than 500 rounds through it it would not be a bad idea to refresh the crown.

Thanks Erik. I am almost certain my load is in a good range, as I followed your method. Then did seating to tighten groups. Tuner sounds easier to fine tune a load

i decided to go with the Buky's type tuner it has a rubber segment they think helps absorb vibrations

when i get my rig back from Clowdis Precision.
ill post some updates on how well it works. im having two new 6ppc barrels fit and a 220 beggs all with this muzzle devise

Erik,

If the barrel is straight at the muzzle, could one not bore the tuner to a few thou larger than the barrel diameter and use the green cylindrical loc tite to install?

That way no threading, machining on the barrel and removeable with a heat gun!
