Muzzle Devices

Folks
I have the itch to play a little in the F Class game. One think I am confused about are the rules pertaining to muzzle devices. On one hand I am under the impression this is a "no-fly" zone prohibiting any devices. On another hand I see threads about specific brakes and/or tuners that are in use.
Personally I would never pull the trigger on any of my firearms without a suppressor if I were given the choice.
Any shared knowledge is appreciated.

That makes sense. Haven't thought about the accessibility of suppressors nation wide. And i absolutely agree with the logic on the breaks. Those things suck if you are not the shooter

The heat from a suppressor will be horrendous. You won’t gain anything using one. Even with a wrap on, it won’t help

I see you're in College Station; where do you plan to shoot F-Class at? Although not common, I've seen first timers allowed to run flash hiders and/or suppressors as a one-time deal so they can actually shoot a match.

If you're thinking about CTSA @ 500 yards or Bayou @600/1000, I'll be shooting there and will gladly loan you an accurate rifle & ammo to shoot a match.

Edit: I couldn't imagine shooting a match with a suppressor on. It would be like trying to shoot through a waterfall; you'd probably harm your barrel too.

Mike, your tuner is almost as good as when I discovered Girls...almost!
Well, I hope it rates as wayyy better than when you discovered boys, then. ;)

Seriously, I never get tired of hearing compliments on them but what you said was very kind and I just wanted to say thank you. It always makes me feel good but even more coming from you. I respect your opinion and I listen when you say anything. I suggest others do the same on here.

Thank you again and Merry Christmas!--Mike

Obviously I have a lot to learn about this game. I'm hoping next season my work schedule is a little more friendly. If so, I'll go shoot where ever they will put up with me.
That is a kind offer with the rifle and ammo. I'm pretty sure I have that covered. I'm on the tail end of my first build. 6BR. So far with less than 75 rounds down the tube I'm pulling 3/8" groups at 100. I'm going to love on my seating depth a little next outing and see if it tightens up some more then take it on out to distance and see how she shoots. Or probably more importantly, see how I shoot.
I do Appreciate the offer kind friend

Ah, nice. Well I hope to see ya out there; it's addictive...addictive and expensive.

CTSA is in New Braunfels and hosts 500 yard matches the first Saturday of every month (usually...check their calendar). It's conventional paper targets, and scoring via spotter....so good place to learn the traditional way of doing things. Very challenging range, and a great group of shooters.

Bayou is down on the Southwest side of Houston. Outstanding facility, and lots of top talent shooters; match is shot on e-targets. They usually host matches 2x a month; a 1k match and a mid-range 300y or 600y match (depending on the time of year).

Assuming you can make your schedule work, get out there and shoot one! No matter where you go, everyone I've come across is friendly and helpful if they know you're new. Hell, you'll probably learn more in the first few than you did in the last several years of shooting. I know I did. ;)

I will try the first Saturday next month there in New Braunfels, schedule allowing.
I'm getting pumped about shooting with some folks that aren't playing Rambo with those damn "spray and pray" clowns that keep showing up at the range. They are actually good guys but Lord they are a pain to shoot with
