CCI SV Question

The best kept secret in a lot of Rimfire sporters in regards to ammo is Norma tac 22. For some reason in 18.5in barrel or longer, it has shot as good for me as any SK and some eley products. At the price point of the Norma (~4.99/50) it is certainly worth a shot. Cci and blazer have both always produced flyers for me. Sometimes as much as 0.5-1in. Glad you are shooting the rimfires and hope you continue to enjoy them. You started off with one of the best factory 22 sporters right out of the box. The Jard trigger upgrade for 100$ may be worth it, but I was able to get mine done to just under a pound and a good friend of mine fit it to a nice wood t3x stock to give it the classic sporter feel and look I was after. The tighter group is tac 22 at 50yds the cci std is labeled. Happy shooting! SHView attachment 1559194
Squirrel, or anybody else…. have you found any difference between the newer red boxes of tac 22 vs the older black boxes ?

Damn that’s good to know after I bought a pile yesterday. Danget. Maybe my trash will shoot it as good as black box
it is still as good as any 80$ brick of SK. The older stuff shoots similar in consistency to center x. The new stuff is still great! It’s a much better investment than cci sv

So your experience is if I’m right, you would take a red box over the cci sv still yet ?

I run it in handguns. For my CZ457s I just spend the money on better ammo. Nothing more frustrating that knowing ammo cost you a match. I've tested lots of SV that has smaller ES and SD than some lots of Eley Match (luck?) but the Eley still shot better all the way out to 250m.

Let us know how it shoots
Eh. I ran 5 of each to try and season the barrel then 5 for group. On this go round the sv was tighter than the red box but both had flyers. Dont really know if 5 rounds is enough for a test with a change in ammo. Either one its a head shot on a squirrel at 50 yds anyways

Yea, the A17 is not designed for 50 yards but I like the design with the 1 1/2" bull and the scoring rings 0.50, 0.80, 1.12, and 1.50". There are the 10 bulls, one sighter per target. I shoot 3 shot groups on each bull for a total of 30 shots. It's a way to score my shooting and access performance. It's also easy to score a 3 shot group.

I am going to stick with the CCI because it is economical and easy to obtain locally plus I am just trying to get in some more trigger time. I was just wondering what others experienced with this ammo. Thanks for you input.
Have a try of some SK Long Range Match. I’ve had good results with it and now shoot it at all distances from 50-100 meters as have other’s in my club… The SK Red is good too and perhaps just a “Touch” better at 50 but cannot hold up to the results of the LR at 75 & 100.
We shoot a “Fly” target at 100mt that is life size {fly} and if you can hit it twice we give you a cap badge…
I’ve got 3 now… {:~)
22 rimfire rifles are notoriously fussy about what will shoot well in that particular rifle and it is usually a learning curve to find what your rifle likes best and then buy up as much of that particular batch as you can afford… The next batch WILL be different…. Close but not the same… or NOT even close as was the case for some Centre X that I was using..
I started out in early days using some Centre X that was magic until the next lot that came in and what had been grouping in the just over zero to a touch more
suddenly looked like bulk 500rds for $50 stuff…
I now buy a case of anything that I find works A+ in my rifle so that I don’t have to work up a new batch or even a different brand. 5,000 rds last a long time but stored carefully also means that you have good results that can be depended on.

I had a grasshopper land on my target the other day at 25yds. I didn't think it would splatter as bad as it did lol!
