Case head separation, what tool to extract case

Ironworker was shooting in a Match so He likely reloads. There are multiple ways to check head space without owning Head Space Gauges.
I reload too, AND shoot in matches, but that has nothing to do with that. Chambers are checked with headspace gauges.

Screwdrivers might work, but are really dangerous. Many a chamber has been scratched that way, which makes it so much harder next time.
Almost any other method is better.
Some are stuck really, really tight!
Any time a bore brush works, I breathe a big sigh of relief!

Dry ice in the chamber can work ,too. I never have dry ice around, though.
Cerrosafe rules!

Broken shell extractors used to be a more common "must have" item, is that not correct? Broken shells still happen, but wasn't that more widespread back in the early days than now?

Tool junky!
Yea… Till you need one…
Then you are glad that it is there… My club keeps one on range at every shoot…
Let you continue without having to withdraw for the day.
Here is one and they come in different sizes and the one my club uses has a “slide hammer” on the other end of the extractor rod.
This one is “tool box” size.

Have a friend who uses a bolt just a tad smaller than the ctg. he is shooting. Pushes it in, gives it a turn or two and pulls out the ctg.

I don't think Brownells makes anything, and if they do, it is very few things.

Whether they do or not..... I can't find one specific to 6mm and I've used both my .223 & .308 shell extractors, or lent them to someone, quite a few times over the decades. A 6mm extractor sure would be convenient.

Out in the field a bent piece of steel wire bent like a super sharp bend fish hook with a sharp edge filed or cut on outside edge does a good job

I belonged to a 1K BR club. Standard equipment on the firing line was a cleaning rod to knock out stuck bullets. The other piece was a round rat tail wood file. The body was taped up to protect the action. Insert file, twist to get a bite on the case, then pull the case out. Several people known for calamities carried one in their range box.

Old Guy here. GI M-14 shell remover tool. Welded a long Allen wrench to the end works well.
Had two gave one to a Range Officer He saw it loved it.
They more than likely sell a store made model theses days ?

I like this file idea. I thought about it in the past but forgot it. Thanks for the reminder. In the meantime, I’m keeping the Head Space snug.
