Case head separation, what tool to extract case

I belonged to a 1K BR club. Standard equipment on the firing line was a cleaning rod to knock out stuck bullets. The other piece was a round rat tail wood file. The body was taped up to protect the action. Insert file, twist to get a bite on the case, then pull the case out. Several people known for calamities carried one in their range box.
The round rat tailed wood file works great. Stan had a couple...a small one and a bigger one. The bigger one got used the most.....belted cases that came apart ahead of the belt. Black cloth electrical tape for protection.

Good shootin' :) -Al

Whether they do or not..... I can't find one specific to 6mm and I've used both my .223 & .308 shell extractors, or lent them to someone, quite a few times over the decades. A 6mm extractor sure would be convenient.
What sort of 6mm are you talking about ?
If it is a 6BR or any other variety or even a 6PPC the .308 extractor is the one to use… Works on the body of the stuck case, extractors are not calibre specific but case body size related.
The only time you might want to have something 6mm would be if you were trying to get a case neck out… I have yet to see that type of failure as all the ones I know about seperate the case base {Head of the case} and leave a fair piece of the body of the case in the chamber and that is what the extractor works against.

6mm Creedmoor I jammed a .30 cal bronze brush in it, it extracted easily.

Glad to hear you got it taken care of. How many times has your cases been fired? Might want to take a paper clip or a borescope if you have one and check all your cases
